Course description

This award is designed for healthcare staff who wish to undertake degree level study. Students are typically qualified healthcare staff from a variety of professional roles, working in specialist clinical areas at band five or six, and seeking to expand their clinical and academic skills in a chosen clinical area.

There are a number of award titles depending on the academic credit achieved. These range from a graduate certificate or diploma to a non-honours or honours degree in health studies. Students must possess a minimum of a diploma or equivalent at the commencement of the programme.

A number of pathways are accessible within the framework of this course. These are prescribed or individually negotiated and designed to meet students’ individual, professional and personal academic development needs.

The course structure is flexible, allowing students to study at their own pace. The course aims to ensure that students have a sound theoretical evidence-based knowledge that can be applied to the work environment.

Career opportunities

Employment prospects are excellent. Successful students frequently attain promotion in their clinical posts.
