Health Information for Clinical Management PGCert/PGDiploma/MSc

Course Description

The MSc Health Information for Clinical Management has been developed in response to the growing importance on the efficient use of health information and the associated technology to shape service operations and service improvement initiatives.

This unique programme was based on a co-funding award from the National Health Service in London to support the continuing professional and personal development within the NHS workforce.

A series of workshops, interviews and master classes involving healthcare managers and clinical professionals were organised to identify the existing skills as well as gaps in health information management and technology which professional staff would benefit from.

Students seeking careers in this developing area of using health information will find this programme beneficial.

The MSc Health Information for Clinical Management has also been developed for NHS managers, clinical leaders and clinicians in Nursing and Allied Healthcare Professional services.

NHS professionals from areas such as HR, Workforce Development, Training, Equality & Diversity, Commissioning, Service Modernisation, Health improvement, Public Health, Health Promotion, Social Marketing, Mental Health, Public/Patient Engagement may also find the programme relevant.

The MSc Health Information for Clinical Management will enhance your knowledge and understanding of information management, systems and service strategy within healthcare organisations. The course aims to:
Equip you with a range of skills including thorough understanding of health and care related systems integration. For example using IT systems with commercially available information to improve health and care service.
Build your knowledge of managing and using health information effectively in a competitive and rapidly changing environment.
Develop a practitioner-based approach towards understanding Information Governance in health care with particular emphasis on the personal health information data quality and standards.

Entry Requirements

A UK first or second class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in a health-related or information technology disciplines.Other qualifications with relevant work experience in health information management will be assessed on an individual basis.Entry criteria is subject to change.

Course Fees

UK/EU students: £7,000 full-time; £3,500 part-time. International students: £16,500 full-time; £8,250 part-time
