The Higher Diploma in Computing Technology (HDipACT) has provided me with an excellent opportunity to move into the IT sector. My background is in the Biological Sciences, yet the structure of the course and the superb level of teaching expertise has meant that in a number of months I have become extremely proficient in web technologies, object oriented programming and systems management. All of these skills are currently highly sought after by employers such as Deloitte, DELL and Google. With the excellent facilities available in the Department of Computer Science and the dynamic and industry-relevant course content the HDipACT provides a gateway for those with no IT experience to a job in this vibrant industry.
