Graduate Diploma in Law


Course Description

This is the conversion course for graduates in subjects other than law or who have a non-qualifying law degree, who intend to become solicitors or barristers.

Only two days compulsory attendance per week

Faculty of Business and Law alumni scholarships 2013/14 - 20+ Awards

The scholarship programme is based on academic achievement and merit and applies to all students automatically who are graduating or have graduated within the last 2 years, and enrol onto one of our full-time Masters programmes (including the Legal Practice and Graduate Diploma in Law programmes).

•Those students who hold a 2.1 or first class honours degree are eligible for a £2,000 discount off the tuition fees of all full-time Masters programmes
•Those students who hold an honours degree qualification below 2.1 level will be eligible for a £500 discount off the tuition fees for all full-time Masters programmes
•Applicants to the full-time Legal Practice or Graduate Diploma in Law courses will be eligible for a £500 discount from tuition fees.Terms and conditions
• Scholarships are available for courses running in the 2013/14 academic session
• The alumni scholarship will operate as a discount to be applied at point of enrolment
• The award cannot be carried over into the next academic year (ie by deferring students)
• Applicants must have previously studied and successfully completed a course (in any subject) of at least nine months or more in duration (full-time, part-time or distance learning) from any DMU UK campus within the last two years
• All UK, EU and overseas DMU graduates are eligible, including students graduating in 2013 or have graduated within the last two years (2011 or 2012)
• The scholarship will be awarded automatically (subject to the eligibility criteria) and there is no separate application process or deadline
• Applicants must have no outstanding debt with the university
• Students in receipt of the alumni scholarship will not be eligible for any other scholarship or award no cash alternatives will be offered and the scholarship cannot be transferred to any other course at DMU or to a nominated recipient
• Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the university

Entry Requirements

Generally you should have a good honours degree in any subject other than law or a non - qualifying law degree. If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent is normally required. English language tuition is available at DMU both before and during the course, if required.
