Course content

Introduction
This course is offered on a full fee paying basis to eligible domestic students. Fees are established per unit and can be found in the unit descriptions within the course schedule. Click on 'View fees for this unit' and select 'Tuition fee (domestic) Post 2008' as the fee type.

The Graduate Certificate in Police Studies is offered at the Hobart campus and by distance. It is normally a 1 semester full-time or up to 2 years (or 2 semesters) part-time program. Students may enrol for semester 1 or semester 2 entry.
Semester 2 intake available only on a part-time basis at Graduate Certificate level.

Objectives
The GradCertPoliceStuds aims to provide a quality tertiary qualification at the postgraduate level in a professional coursework program. The course aims to provide students with:
*a thorough grounding in policing theory and practice;
*skills to engage in informed debate about major policing issues in contemporary society;
*knowledge of recent developments in the field;
*skills to appraise research critically.

Enhancement of students' careers by the achievement of a postgraduate award from a prestigious university.
The Tasmanian Department of Police and Public Safety endorses this professional postgraduate course. Indeed, its Tertiary Education Assistance Scheme (which involves Commissioner's scholarships and interest-free loans) is an incentive for eligible Tasmania Police officers to undertake postgraduate study at the University of Tasmania.
