Course content

The duration of the program is twelve months with classes beginning in September. The program is completed within three Semesters, each divided into two Terms. The duration of each Term is two months. Depending on their background, some students may be required to take a number of preparation courses, such as Business Mathematics, Introduction to Accounting or Computer Fundamentals. The duration of the preparation courses is 14 contact-hours and are offered during the two week period prior to the beginning of the program.

In order to graduate, students must complete a total of at least 90 European Credit Transfer System units - ECTS units. Courses of 3.5 or 4 ECTS are completed within 28 contact-hours over a two-month period. The program also offers a number of courses of 2 ECTS that are completed within 14 contact-hours over a two-month period.

A total of 49 ECTS units constitute the core curriculum, the intent of which is to introduce students to the fundamentals of the business disciplines. The courses also enable students to improve their analytical thinking and decision-making skills. The core courses are offered during the first three Terms.

Program participants must choose courses, corresponding to 20 ECTS, from a list available from the Department, which covers all fields of business administration. These courses provide students the opportunity to customize their program according to their professional needs and interests. The elective courses are offered during the fourth and fifth Terms.

The Applied Business Project (21 ECTS units) takes place during the last Term, and enables students to apply the knowledge acquired during the program to an organization. The Applied Business Project focuses on a real-life case within a corporate or government environment, and brings together teams of students with sponsor companies. Whether the project focuses on a new business opportunity, the elimination of inefficiency, the adoption of new technologies or the development of people, students are urged to approach the project from a multi-disciplinary point of view in order to synthesize business knowledge and practice.

The Applied Business Project reflects one of the central themes of the program which is teamwork. The complexity of the business environment forces managers to seek the integration of knowledge through collaboration.
