Executive MBA - Accredited MBA ProgramThe Executive MBA
Master of Business Administration at AVT Business School is an exciting journey in understanding the roles of the general manager and the leader in a globalizing world. The theme of the AVT executive MBA is “Responsible Leadership in a Globalizing World,” which is inspired by the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI).
An Executive MBA at AVT Business School is an 18 months program in two parts:
* Part 1 is the CBA which takes 6 months and * Part 2 is the MBA that takes 12 months and builds on the successful completion of the CBA program.
The Executive MBA also travels to Shanghai for an immersion in the Chinese market.
The MBA at AVT requires the students to have completed the CBA. MBA class starts once a year in September and lasts one year. It consists of 16 modules and concludes with an Applied Research Project including an oral defense.
All the modules are taught at the exclusive AVT Business School or during the study tour to China.
MBA modules by faculty:
Module 1: Kick off and Live Case Module 2: Financial Tools Module 3: Leadership, Cross-Culture & Negotiation Module 4: Leadership Development Process Module 5: Innovation & Entrepreneurship during the study tour to China Module 6: Corporate Finance Module 7: International Business Law Module 8: Supply Chain Management Module 9: Sales & Service Management Module 10: International Macro Economics Module 11: Leading People & Organizations Module 12: Advanced Strategy & Global Management Module 13: Governance & Business Ethics Module 14: Applied Research Project Module 15 and 16: Electives
Besides the traditional topics, we work with issues of responsible leadership, both in terms of corporate social responsibility, ethics, cross-cultural management, and sustainable business.
Participants work with a large Danish company in the Live Case phase. Grundfos, acting as “live case” throughout the MBA program, supported the class of 2009. Class of 2010 worked with Carlsberg Group, class of 2011 worked with LEGO. This year MBA class of 2012 is working with Maersk Line.
We will have separate classes on these issues of globalization, but each course has been amended to the theme too.
Study at the AVT Executive Center Classes are always held at the AVT Executive Center at Sankt Annæ Plads in the center of Copenhagen. There are plenty of parking facilities nearby (the nearest is the Parking facility in Dronningens Tværgade, but you may also find space on the street – since classes start on Sundays), the Metro is 600 meters away, and there are also six hotels within walking distance (Phoenix, Neptun, Front, Admiral, D’Angleterre, Nyhavn 71) , but the overnight stay is not included in the program fee.
Coffee, water, fresh fruit and snacks are available in the breaks, and you will also be served a light breakfast and lunch during the days.
A few days after the module you will receive an online questionnaire, where you give feedback on the Module, the professor and the practical logistics. This helps us improve – and your feedback is made available to the AVT management, the professor and the AVT Alumni Board for evaluation.
The study and exams We expect you to spend 100 hours of studying on the MBA per month. This includes preparation, classes and time spent on writing papers.
You will have 3 individual papers and 5 group papers to complete (50 hours / 3000 words each). Also, you will sit 3 written, individual exams (4 hours, open book, take home exams). And one, final Applied Research Project (150 hours / 8000 words). You will also have to defend your Applied Research Paper at the final oral exam.
The individual papers and the Applied Research Project are written with your own company as the case, and you will have to include elements of Responsible Leadership, cross culture and Global Management.
