Since 1988, the Centre Environmental Science & Technology of UGent offers the Master of Science in Environmental Sanitation, aiming to train environmental experts who have a good knowledge of all compartments and processes of the environment (soil, water, air), can make use of integrated insights and multidisciplinary approaches in environmental science and technology and combine preventive and remediation instruments to support a sustainable exploitation of the environment.

Our programme will prepare you to become: -Experts in environmental issues on a local and global scale in a multi-stakeholder perspective, with a particular set of tools and standards useful in developing countries. -Experts in prevention and sanitation of environmental pollution operating in governmental institutions and NGO’s, universities and research institutes, industries and consultancy firms.
Other admission requirements
The applicant must be proficient in the language of the course or training programme, i.e. English. The English language proficiency can be met by providing a certificate (validity of 5 years) of one of the following tests: (TOEFL/IELTS predictive tests and TOEIC will not be accepted): -TOEFL IBT 80 -TOEFL PBT 550 -ACADEMIC IELTS 6,5 overall score with a min. of 6 for writing -CEFR B2 Issued by a European university language centre -ESOL CAMBRIDGE English CAE (Advanced)
Applicants must have at least a Bachelor's degree in exact or applied sciences of min. 3 years with good overall scores (at least a second class upper or equivalent, preferably higher). Applicants must be able to demonstrate through their transcripts adequate knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry at university level. This is an absolute requirement. Previous knowledge of (micro)biology and/or statistics and/or ecology is an advantage but not a prerequisite. See course description for further admission details.
