If you are interested in working for government agencies and regulators, environmental consultancies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) then the Environmental Management programme at Aberdeen is right for you.

Our programme will help you gain a deep understanding of issues related to environmental management and provide you with the necessary skills required to help you succeed. You will learn how to carry out environmental management planning and environmental impact assessments (EIA).

You will undertake courses focusing on a range of appropriate topics, including soils, statistics, environmental pollution, management planning, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and catchment management. As part of these courses you will gain valuable insights into fundamental theory underlying management decisions and acquire key skills such as data analysis and interpretation, ecological modelling and writing a management plan and environmental impact reports.

There are no final exams on the programme and courses are evaluated through a variety of types of assessments that aim to help students gain further essential skills such as writing reports, designing and writing environmental plans, carrying out presentations and analysing and interpreting data.

At the end of your programme you will design and run a final project that will be best suited to the skills you have gained and understanding you have developed. You will have the flexibility to either select a project from an extensive list of available projects or, in collaboration with your supervisor, plan your own project to suit your individual interests and aspirations.
