About the course

The MSc by Research in Environmental Dynamics allows you to undertake a year-long individual programme of personally and professionally enriching research. 

Your environmental dynamics research project will be shaped by participation in activities such as seminars, workshops, laboratory activity and fieldwork, as well as your involvement in one of our established research groups.

While this programme in Environmental Dynamics usually finishes after a year, it can be used to progress to the second year of a PhD degree in the appropriate circumstances. 

In the latest Research Assessment Exercise, 95% of Geography research at Swansea was judged to be of international quality, and 60% was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirement for the MSc by Research in Environmental Dynamics is normally a minimum of an upper second class Honours degree or equivalent in geography or a related field. English language requirement IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component) or Swansea University recognised equivalent. With world-class research centres, purpose-built suites of laboratories, and a city surrounded by parkland and coastline, such as the Gower Peninsula where diverse habitats are located, Swansea really is an outstanding place to study, conduct research and make the most of student living.
