This programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop confidence and skills to apply the principles of practitioner-based enquiry in education within your own work settings in order to initiate beneficial changes to the organisations in which you work. Through this programme, you will be able to apply knowledge and understanding in leadership to improve your practice and become an effective practitioner.
Why this programme
-This programme is designed for people at different stages in their professional careers from a range of backgrounds in education and allied fields such as social work, health and policing. -There is a focus on collaborative learning, drawing on your own experiences and those of your academic colleagues. -Research-informed courses will help you to think about practice and policy in the light of current educational thinking and enable you to consider how to improve your own practice to become an effective practitioner. Some of these are unique to Scotland. -The programme will help you to develop evidence-based, theoretical approaches and practices in critical reflection and judgment that you can apply in relation to your own practice. -You will be based at our Dumfries campus, set in the beautiful countryside of the South-West of Scotland.
You will take four core and two optional courses, followed by a research project to be completed over the summer months. The research project can be in the form of a dissertation or practice based, and provides an opportunity for you to identify an area of personal interest to explore in more detail.

The programme will support your career development as a class teacher, lecturer, policy developer, special education professional, head teacher, education administrator or researcher. Aga Khan Foundation - International Scholarship Programme

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from select developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies, in order to prepare them for employment, primarily within the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The Foundation gives priority to requests for Master's level courses but may consider applications for PhD programmes, in the case of outstanding students who are highly recommended for doctoral studies by their professors and who need a PhD for the fulfilment of their career objectives (academic or research oriented). Applications for short-term courses are not considered; neither are applications from students who have already started their course of study.To be eligible applicants must - Be nationals of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. May also be considered those originally from these countries but currently living in France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, who are interested in development-related studies and who have no other means of financing their education. - Demonstrate consistently excellent academic records - Show evidence of genuine financial need - Have obtained admission to a highly reputable university or programme of study - Establish relevance of the field of study to AKDN’s focus areas - Provide thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans, their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment. - Have some years of work experience in their field of interest.Preference is given to students under 30 years of age.Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis. The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only. The cost of travel is not included in AKF scholarships. Funding for PhD programmes is only provided for the first two years of study, after which the students are expected to find alternative sources of assistance. Financial assistance is provided according to the needs of students, but the International Scholarship Programme must be considered a lender of last resort. Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.

Application forms can be obtained as of 1st January from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services/Boards in the applicant’s country of current residence. The application procedures of AKF's International Scholarship Programme are decentralised. Completed applications should be returned to the agency from which the form was obtained. They should not be sent to Geneva. Applicants should be prepared to be interviewed by local Scholarship Committees about their financial situation, their academic performance, extra-curricular achievements and career plans. Applications and Interview reports of shortlisted candidates are sent to Geneva for the final selection. The annual Scholarship Selection Meeting takes place in late June or early July and the Aga Khan Foundation notifies all students of the outcome of their application shortly thereafter.
The University of Glasgow - James McGill Scholarship

The College of Social Sciences has introduced scholarships, available to graduates of McGill University who apply to the Masters programme at the University of Glasgow, commencing in September 2016. The scholarships will be awarded as a tuition fee waiver.

University of Glasgow Country Scholarships
The University of Glasgow award a total of 40 postgraduate scholarships worth £5,000. Scholarships are available to students entering any of the University’s colleges and are awarded as a tuition fee discount.

The University of Glasgow offer 52 University Trust International Leadership scholarships to international (non-EU) students starting a postgraduate taught Masters programme in any discipline. 12 awards worth £10,000 and 40 awards worth £5000 will be awarded as a tuition fees discount.
