The MA in English Language and Literary Studies is ideal for you if you would like to combine your studies of English Language with the study of literature and literary theory. This MA is taught jointly by the Department of Linguistics and English Language and the Department of English and Creative Writing, allowing a great deal of flexibility to follow your own interests.
You will be required to take at least two English Language modules and two Literary Studies modules, which can be selected out of the module choices offered by the two departments. You will also have to complete a research methodology module from either the Department of Linguistics and English Language or the Department of English and Creative Writing, which provides an essential grounding in the research skills you
2:1 Hons degree (UK or equivalent) in a language/linguistics-related degree or one with a number of language/linguistics-related subjects; some background in literature is also needed.
