To avoid catastrophic climate change, global carbon emissions must be brought to zero within a few decades. This requires a transformation of the global energy system, beginning now. On this MSc, you learn to contribute to this challenge. You’ll gain the skills and confidence to develop and deliver policy with impact. With climate change as a focus, you’ll explore the role of policy and innovation in transforming energy systems, while sharpening your analytical and decision-making skills.

You should have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above.
Your qualification can be in any subject and undergraduate degrees in the social sciences, natural science or engineering are particularly suitable. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.

20 scholarships are available to international applicants to the University of Sussex Business School. The award is a fee waiver worth £5000. As there are a limited number of awards available, these are highly competitive and only applicants with excellent academic achievement and potential will be considered. If you have excellent grades to date, you can apply for a scholarship after you have received an offer to study at the University of Sussex in 2021.
Be classified as ‘overseas’ for fee purposes.
Have received an offer of a place to study a full time Bachelors degree at the University of Sussex Business School in 2021.
Have excellent academic grades.
To be considered for the Chancellors International and EU Business Scholarship, you need to have received and accepted an offer of a place on an eligible course at the University of Sussex Business School. Please complete the separate scholarship application form online, after you have received an offer to study at Sussex.
The successful applicant will need to ensure they have made plans or raised sufficient funds to cover the remaining tuition fee and costs of living, for the duration of their degree.
These scholarships, awarded as a £10,000 tuition fee reduction, are available to applicants applying to study a Masters degree in the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), to celebrate and continue the legacy of Geoffrey Oldham. We particularly welcome applications from applicants who demonstrate a commitment to furthering Oldham’s work on Science and Technology and Gender.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have accepted an offer of a full time place on one of the following Masters courses in SPRU - Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex Business School:
Energy Policy MSc
Project Management MSc
Science and Technology Policy MSc
Strategic Innovation Management MSc
Sustainable Development MSc
You can apply for this scholarship after you accept an offer of a place on an eligible course.
You need to have excellent academic scores to date. You also need to provide a statement of academic interests when you apply. We assess this statement on how well you demonstrate the following:
- how your research interests will contribute to furthering Geoffrey Oldham’s work on Science and Technology and Gender.
- significant work experience or extra-curricular activities related to your chosen Masters
- clear and specific goals with what you aim to do after you finish your Masters
We are pleased to announce that all international applicants who study a full time Masters course at the University of Sussex Business School starting in September 2021, will receive a £3,000 award towards their overseas tuition fee.

You can receive both this award and apply for scholarships from the University of Sussex.
The Award will be reflected in your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which you will need in order to apply for your Student visa.
