Course content

The HKUST MSc Program in Electronic Engineering brings students up to date in the range of technologies that are increasing the speed at which we can acquire, interpret, and act upon information. Students will master: advances in networking, communication, photonics and display technologies, which improve our access to information; advances in signal processing and pattern recognition, which enable computers to analyze this information automatically; advances in automation and control, which enable rapid reconfiguration of production lines in response to market changes; and the advances in chip design and computer architecture that power these technologies.

This program is deliberately broad based to provide a balanced view of the state of the art for maximum flexibility. Students may tailor their program to their unique interests.

Programe Objectives
Indeed, technology is advancing across a broad front of areas at such a rapid pace that even recent degree holders find their knowledge base fast becoming obsolete. The Master of Science (MSc) program in Electronic Engineering brings students up-to-date in state-of-the-art technologies which are changing the way we work and interact in an increasingly interconnected world.

The program offers postgraduate courses in a broad range of subjects in Electronic Engineering. The program is deliberately broad based to provide a balanced view of the state-of-the-art for maximum flexibility. Students may tailor their program to their unique interests.

The program requires students to take a total of 24 credits of course work, which is equivalent to eight 3-credit courses. Normally, part-time students are expected to take two 3-credit courses every term. Full-time students may take four 3-credit courses every term. Each 3-credit course typically meets once a week for approximately three hours on a weekday evening (or weekends with prior notice) for a total of 13-weeks in a term. Independent study can be carried out in day time.

Students typically fulfill the 24 credit requirement by taking eight courses of 3 credits each:

* Student may take EESM 5900 for a maximum of 6 credits.
