This MSc provides a Master's-level grounding in psychology, paying particular attention to its implications for education and other professional practice. This pathway will be suitable if you already hold Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) status, or if you do not intend to work as a psychologist in the UK after graduation.
You will study alongside students on the MSc Psychology of Education BPS programme and have access to the same units. The key difference between the two programmes is that you will have more flexibility in your choice of units. You will not be required to undertake work in statistics, and can choose from a wider range of optional units. This programme of study leads to the MSc Education (Psychology of Education), but does not make you eligible for GBC.

Optional units -Students studying this programme may select 40 credits of optional units from across the school.
Dissertation -You will also complete a 15,000-word dissertation.

An upper second-class undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of one year's appropriate professional experience in settings relevant to psychology and education (eg schools, support services for vulnerable young people, special education). Applicants for this programme are required to demonstrate either a substantial academic background in psychology (normally, at least 60 credits at undergraduate level), or that they have obtained significant work experience in an area relevant to psychology.
