Education for Health, Social Care and Allied Professionals - PGCert

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Health, Social Care and Allied Professionals aims to enable you to achieve a professional teaching qualification whether you are a nurse, midwife, social worker or any other allied professional. The PGCert aims to develop your knowledge and skills for teaching so that you can facilitate and manage learning and assessment at higher education level within a health or social care context. The course aims to be sufficiently flexible to enable you to develop specific expertise which can be applied to the complexities of your professional practice area. The PGCert is committed to your individual development as a teacher. Career path

Successful completion of the PGCert will enable you to pursue a professional teaching career either within the higher education arena or within your practice area. The PGCert is approved by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and meets the NMC teacher standard. If you are a nurse or a midwife, successful completion of the PGCert enables you to record your professional teaching qualification on the professional register.

Upon successful completion of the PGCert you will be able to evaluate critically a range of educational frameworks that are specifically relevant to your area of professional practice.
