This Master's degree programme has a selection procedure.
During the two-year Master's programme Ecology and Evolution you will gain insight into the living organism in relation to its environment. Ecology and evolution are strongly interdependent: without ecology, we cannot really understand natural selection; and without evolution, we cannot really understand the properties of organisms and their interaction with the environment. Ecology and evolution are relevant for all domains of the life sciences.

An academic Bachelor's degree in Biology with a specialisation in Ecology, Evolution or another related field. This is merely an indication of required background knowledge. The admissions board determines whether the specific contents of this/these course(s) meet the admission requirements of the master programme for which you applied.

Our programmes in research and education range from nanomaterials and biomachinery to astronomy, from mathematics to pharmacy, from neurosciences to computer science, and from molecular and evolutionary biology to marine biology.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) offers a large number of Master's programmes (overseen by our Graduate School of Science and Engineering). Most of our Master's degree programmes (MSc) are fully English-taught, thus allowing students from all over the world to follow a degree programme with us.
For the Groningen Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE) another important task is to provide an optimal training environment for all PhD students in the faculty. To this end, the GSSE organises courses in 'transferable skills,' coordinates and advertises courses offered by other graduate schools and research schools, provides practical information for PhD students, organises meetings and other networking activities, and provides a forum for discussion.
All educational activities at the faculty are facilitated and supported by the Educational Support Centre (ESC).
Research at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is done in a number of research institutes. Researchers and research groups also participate in different international, national and local research institutes.
