Marco

I studied my undergraduate in South Africa and have chosen to do my Masters in Italy. The natural world has always been a passion of mine. Learning about the immense geological processes that the Earth goes through and what comes from it as a result has fascinated me and urged me to want to know more.
The programme has given me the opportunity to work with and learn from active and leading members of the academic community within the geosciences. I have been able to gain a significant amount of varied field work experience thanks to the many field trips that are organised by the geosciences department. The Professors are extremely friendly and very approachable. They are very passionate and highly knowledgeable within their respective fields which makes learning from them a pleasure. During the exams they are skilful in knowing how to keep you calm and relaxed so that you can answer questions easily and confidently. This has made studying for and taking the exams less stressful which, in my experience, has allowed me to perform better.
I would recommend this programme to any student that is wanting to better their career options or is aiming for a PhD within the geosciences. Not only will you further the skills that you will need in your career but you will be able to learn from and work with academic professionals in a leading international university for research. As you specialise within your chosen field you will be at the forefront of research within the geosciences.
I have had a very enjoyable time at Unipd. I have been able to travel around most of northern Italy thanks to the centrality of Padova as it is a short train or bus ride to many of the cities and towns around it. The university itself and the student life is very active, there is a very large group of international students here in Padova. They have been very welcoming and keen to help should you have any problems. The city itself is a student city so you will be able to meet many different people from all over the world and further your network. Thanks to the agreements between the university and many of its partners, there have been numerous opportunities to get involved in other supplementary programmes, whether it be a mobility, an online course or a cultural one.
