This programme focuses on the science of the processes governing the growth and development of organisms. It includes studies of the genes and molecules that control cell growth, differentiation and morphogenesis that give rise to tissues, organs and individuals.
The department has outstanding facilities for experimental work using a range of model vertebrate organisms.
The MSc programmes in Biology & Biochemistry are designed for students who wish to specialise further in a particular field or wish to change direction from their first degree (in a related area).
