Topics you may study on this course include computer programming, data management and intelligent systems. Recent MSc project topics include: machine learning for the internet of things, augmented reality applications for tourism, analysis and management of agricultural emissions data, network intrusion detection and supply chain management.

Advanced Software Engineering

Focuses on current issues in the field of Software Engineering with significant emphasis is placed on student discussion and peer review.

Agile Software Development Project

Will give you a strong foundation in agile software engineering that will inform their software development practice and prepare them to work in the software industry.

Fundamentals of Intelligent Systems

Introduces the key ideas in Artificial Intelligence and ensures all students are at roughly the same level before moving on to the specialist modules.

Our Staff

Almost all of the Department of Computer Science Lecturers and Teaching Fellows are qualified to PhD level, and those who are not have considerable research or industrial experience. All new Lecturers and Teaching Fellows are required to obtain the PGCTHE, and hence are Senior Fellows or Fellows of the Higher Education Academy. The department also employs a number of part time demonstrators and tutors and some student demonstrators, who are selected from our undergraduate and postgraduate students. Research fellows and research assistants (mostly PhD qualified) may also be involved in delivering occasional teaching when it is appropriate.
