About the course
CLASIC, a stand-alone Professional Master of Science degree, provides students with a solid foundation in both linguistics and computer science graduate course work as well as several courses focused on date-driven linguistics, computational linguistics, and information processing. Graduates of the program will be specialists in the application of computers to the processing of natural languages, such as English, Chinese, Arabic and Urdu.
Entry Requirements
Baccalaureate degree or its equivalent in computer science, linguistics, math or science from an accredited college or university
Undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0
Upper division mathematics courses:
Calculus, upper division level
Statistics & Probability, upper division
Computer science courses:
Intro to Computer Science
Data Structures
Algorithms
Intro to Programming Languages
Linguistics courses:
Intro to Linguistics (with focus on language structures)
Additional course (morphology/syntax, semantics, formal semantics) recommended
3 letters of recommendation
Personal statement of purpose
GRE scores (required for all applicants)
