Course content

The Postgraduate Certificate Coaching & Mentoring course is ideal if you have a background in a public, private or voluntary organisation and have responsibility for training and development and/or supporting peers and colleagues as part of your own organisational development policies.

Our course will provide you with an opportunity for sustained engagement with the subject; you will embark on a learning journey in a supportive and non-threatening environment.

The programme promotes cross-sector/interagency/inter-professional working and the development of core, transferable skills. It also provides an opportunity for sustained engagement with the subject; to embark on an incremental learning journey in a supportive and non-threatening environment.

You will explore the body of theoretical knowledge required and issues of practical implementation and management of coaching and mentoring in workplace contexts. Depending on your workplace context, this can have an immediate impact on professional practice.

Course Details

Our course promotes cross-sector/interagency/inter-professional working and the development of core, transferable skills appropriate for postgraduate study at SCQF Level 11 (Masters).

While on our course you will study the following three modules:

  • Critical Self-evaluation and Development
  • Situated Professional Learning
  • Contextualising Coaching and Mentoring

Additionally, our course provides an opportunity for sustained engagement with the subject; to embark on an incremental learning journey in a supportive and non-threatening environment.

You will explore the body of theoretical knowledge required and issues of practical implementation and management of coaching and mentoring in workplace contexts. Depending on your workplace context, this could have an immediate impact on professional practice.

Teaching & Assessment

You will taught entirely online through UWS’ virtual learning environment Moodle.

Assessment uses formative and summative assessments, including such instruments as:
