About the course

Our MA Classics is ideal for graduates with prior knowledge or study of Greek and Latin who want to undertake advanced study of the classical world at postgraduate level. We offer you the chance to explore multiple aspects of ancient Greek and Roman archaeology, history and culture, from the archaic period through the classical era to late antiquity, including Greek and Latin literature and the archaeology and material culture of the ancient Mediterranean. You will learn in a culture of active research, with teaching and supervision from world-leading academics working at the cutting edge in their fields. 

This interdisciplinary Master’s degree starts with a broadly chronological introduction to the classical world, from the archaic Mediterranean to the early Christian Roman

Entry Requirements

A second-class honours degree in an arts subject. Proficiency in either Greek or Latin. We also consider social science and science graduates.

Our Graduate Certificate in History can be used as a conversion course if you have a degree in a significantly different discipline.

If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, the requirement for this course is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 7.0, with not less than 6.5 in each of the sub-tests and at least 7.0 in writing.
