Career Management (MSc/PGDip/PGCert)

Course Description

This course will help you to improve your understanding of the career decision making process, increase your knowledge and understanding of careers and the labour market, and develop your career counselling and coaching skills.

This is a modular pathway, offering opportunities for practitioners and managers to explore key issues relating to careers education and guidance theory and practice. Central to this programme is the commitment to the process of raising professional practice so that individuals of any age, accessing careers advice at any point throughout their lives can be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attributes to manage their careers, make the most of changing opportunities in learning, to secure employment, sustain employment and to progress within work.

The programme uses a variety of assessment types which focus on work related learning and reflection. These include a mix of work based learning activities, presentations, interview skills and written assignments. Each module is assessed against clear criteria.

There are nine career, education and guidance postgraduate modules which you can choose to study as stand-alone CPD or build to a qualification such as the PgCert/PgDip Career Management.

Entry Requirements

It would normally be expected that applicants are qualified to at least the equivalent of the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework level 4/5 (equivalent to 1st / 2nd year undergraduate).Applications are also welcome from those without the required qualification who possess the life/work skills that would make them suitable to study at this level.For some modules applicants will need regular access to clients and/or an educational establishment.
