Course content

The Master of Business Education at MTSU is the only graduate degree of its kind in Tennessee. Courses are taught by nationally recognized leaders in the field. Faculty member Dr. Robert B. Blair is the current president of the National Business Education Association (NBEA). Other faculty members have served and continue to serve on committees and in editorial positions for the NBEA. Teachers who have been placed in Tennessee by the department have close business and/or personal relationships with individual faculty members. “We frequently get calls and emails from school administrators searching for teachers because they know we turn out top-notch students,” says Dr. Stephen Lewis, program director.
It is not unusual to have students apply for an M.B.E. who already hold a master’s degree in some other area – occasionally a doctorate degree – and who feel called to the teaching profession and therefore decide to change careers. The same is true of students who decide to pursue the corporate emphasis. They like interacting with people, and perhaps they have been working in a job where they do not have that opportunity. There is an appeal to working as a trainer at the corporate level where an energetic people-person can help others grow in their jobs and achieve greater success. Examples of career opportunities with both these option include:

Teaching certification option
Community colleges
High schools
Middle schools
Technology centers
Training certification option
Corporate training
Independent (freelance) training
