The Engineering faculties of the Universiteit Gent and Vrije Universiteit Brussel organize the interuniversitary Master of Biomedical Engineering and this in a close collaboration with the Medical faculties of both universities. As a result of recent evolutions towards internationalization, we also offer a complete English master program in biomedical engineering. Both the Dutch and English masters are two-year programs and lead to a joint degree from UGent and VUB. Students study either in Ghent or in Brussels upon their own choice.
Biomedical Engineering is a branch of Engineering where students acquire knowledge and skills which can be applied to tackle complex problems in biology, medicine and health

I started my education for civil engineering at the University of Brussels in 2005 where I obtained my bachelor degree in Electronics. I then decided to move to Ghent for a master in biomedical engineering at VUB/Ghent University. In my second master I worked on my thesis on neurostimulation design in collaboration with the Imec Research Center in Leuven. After graduation in 2010 I immediately started working in a company developing hardware and software for Sleep Labs in hospitals. As of September 2014 I am working for St Jude Medical, a medical device company who sells highly invasive devices in the cardiology and neuromodulation sector.
