The ACCA Professional Qualification, covering all accounting disciplines, can act as a springboard to career success in many different areas of accountancy and finance. The City Campus, Newport is an ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner, the highest level of accreditation that a tuition provider can obtain.
Our internal ACCA Fundamentals level course is accreditated for exemption from all Fundamentals Level ACCA papers on a paper by paper basis and can also earn University of South Wales awards, a Certificate of Higher Education (Professional Accounting) on completion of 120 credits and a Diploma of Higher Education (Professional Accounting) on completion of 240 credits.
The combination of the practical experience and technical expertise of our lecturing team and our excellence in teaching and learning make our ACCA course very special.
Part-time course: We offer tuition for all 16 papers of the Professional Qualification (F1 to F9 and P1 to P7) on a part-time basis, and most papers are offered on either a day release or afternoon-evening basis. The course is flexibly designed to allow different study combinations at all levels. There are entry points in September for December exams, and January for June exams. Students taking the Fundamentals Level papers can choose between external ACCA exams or internal, exemption awarding University exams.
Full-time course: Tuition for the Professional Level papers is also offered on a full-time basis.
At City Campus, we offer tuition for the qualifications of three of the major UK accountancy bodies (CIMA, ACCA and ICAEW) and have been successfully teaching for over 40 years. We are an ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner, a CIMA Global Premium Learning Partner and an ICAEW Partner in Learning.
Students who need to complete all elements can do so over a four year period. Students with exemptions will take less time than this, while others may opt for a longer period of study. Tuition hours are between 50 and 60 hours per paper, depending on level.
Learning and teaching methods
Students will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops.
The internal papers are assessed by coursework (30%) and end of year examination (70%). The coursework is designed to test soft skills such as group work, report writing and presentations. The external papers are assessed by end of session examination.
This qualification, subject to ACCA’s practical experience requirements, enables you to become a Chartered Certified Accountant, use the designatory letters ACCA after your name and to typically work across a range of finance or management roles in any business. Some students then opt to study at postgraduate degree level. A Professional Fast-track MSc Accounting & Finance course is available for full ACCA members at the University of South Wales.
Students who have passed or who are exempted from ACCA papers F1 to F9, can study our full MSc Accounting & Finance – with ACCA tuition and complete an MSc and ACCA Professional level course simultaneously.
