Student Profile(s)

Princy Pappachan

Before DSTI, Princy worked as an Integration Engineer Consultant. She used to build interfaces for leading multinational and Indian Corporate banks for processing guarantees and payments. She has expertise in design, development, support and infrastructure setup of integration platforms.

Why did you choose the Applied MSc in Data Science & AI at DSTI?
There are two major reasons:
1. I always believed that the quality of an institute is measured by the review of the students and alumni. So, I contacted few alumni of DSTI and they had only praise and most of them were actually grateful to the school for their change of career.
2. I love the programme’s content. Apart from being good at what you do on a day-to-day basis, you need to have at least basic knowledge of all the domains which keep your application live. It is a critical point which most people overlook. I liked the fact that DSTI expands the boundaries by teaching us AWS and does not limit us to just coding.

What was your DSTI study experience like during these 6 months?
I personally loved my experience! From the faculty, administrators, alumni to my classmates, I adore every single person I have come across at DSTI. They made my study experience in DSTI beautiful! What I loved most of the staff, is that they really care for every individual like a family. Every time I had any issue, they always stood by me and I will always be grateful to them.

Besma Khelif

Besma has 15 years of professional experience and has been working in the field of Control Management for more than 10 years. Before joining DSTI, she used to be an Operations Research Engineer in the agri-food and transportation fields.

Why this career change to Data Science?
In the company in which I used to work, there were a multitude of non-integrated systems, which results of repetitive and unproductive efforts, especially for a Management Controller. I was tired of manually compiling Excel spreadsheets and coping with the expanding data volume, I decided to change my career path to Data Science because I was convinced of the urgency of implementing true digital governance in all sectors of activity.

What are you learning in the Applied MSc that you find the most interesting?
Everything is interesting and rewarding. In the Applied MSc in Data Science and AI, students can benefit from a complete coverage of mathematical fundamentals such as statistics, analysis and optimization. Moreover, we learn technical and practical skills that allow us to apply advanced methods of Data Science and AI.

Adeshina O’Tayo

Before joining DSTI, Adeshina used to work with Tier 1 Bank in Nigeria, and occupied different roles such as ETL Developer & Data Engineering, DevOp Engineer and Application life-cycle Manager.

Adeshina is certified a AWS Solution Architect and Developer Associate. He also has few certifications in Microsoft Technologies including Data Ware housing, networking. And he is ITIL V3 certified.

What compelled you to return to school and pursue a graduate education?

I have always desired to established myself as a renowned and resourceful Data Expert. I had the opportunity to be exposed to both structured and unstructured data, log files and terabytes of transactional data that begs us to draw insight from. We made important gains but were frustrated at how difficult it was to cope with our data explosion. Therefore, I began searching for a programme that would increase my depth of understanding in the real world of Big Data Computing.

Why did you choose the Applied MSc Data Engineering for AI?

DSTI was referred to me by an alumnus and I myself recommended it to five of my friends. I liked the fact that it is an applied programme by having both the theory and the practical. The lenght of the Applied MSc is perfect for me – not too long and allowing me to learn French at the same time.
