This postgraduate degree will demonstrate how a range of scientific disciplines can be used to structure inquiry and develop the evidence base for applied health research. You will receive a sound grounding in research methods and research practice, while developing key transferable skills in research practice, critical appraisal, academic writing, project management, communication and presentation of research, and research management, policy, governance and ethics.
The MRes can be taken full-time over one year or part-time over two years.
The PGCert, which includes the modules but not the dissertation, is only available part-time over one year.

Candidates will normally have a relevant first degree (2:1 or higher) or equivalent qualification. Candidates with significant experience and/or qualifications in health or social care research will also be considered. If English is not the first language, an IELT score of 7.0 overall will be required (with a minimum score of 6.5 in each element).
