Course content

● The programme is professionally-oriented and designed for students who are qualified or nearly qualified Chartered Accountants (ICAEW).
● You can graduate in a shorter period with a Masters degree that is linked with a leading professional body. Credit for prior learning is given for completion of two ICAEW ACA Advanced Level examinations.
● Instead of a traditional dissertation, you will compile an independent work portfolio which will include elements aligned with the demands of the accounting profession, including the ICAEWs capstone case study paper.
● The University of Glasgow’s long established MAcc programme provides an excellent basis for the development of key competencies valued by leading employers and the profession, helping you to think critically and reflect on accounting in a practice environment.
● The programme is strongly research-led, and you will be expected to evaluate and critique theories from the latest research in accounting. Our staff have close connections to the accounting and finance profession, and you will benefit from the experience of world-class teaching.
● You will join an international community of students who come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds, which will allow you to share experiences through multi-cultural teamwork.

Programme Structure

You will take one core and two optional courses, and complete a substantive independent work portfolio. One element of the portfolio is being modelled on the requirements of the final (capstone) ICAEW case study assessment, which is designed to help you to apply your learning within a practice based case environment. This allows you to acquire the capabilities necessary for leading positions in contemporary professional environments, and to do so in a time efficient manner.
