The Accounting and Financial Management MSc is designed to provide training on functional accounting and finance topics for those considering careers in the Accounting or the Financial Services Sectors.


The programme covers both advanced accounting and financial management modules giving students a certain level of flexibility to explore more before specialising in a particular area.


The modules covered in the MSc Accounting and Financial Management degree have been carefully developed so that the following three main streams are covered:
-Internal accounting and the financial management environment
-External financial market environment
-Inter-linkages between internal and external accounting and financial management environments

You will study the following modules in the Accounting and Financial Management MSc.

Semester 1
-Institutional investments
-Financial statement analysis and valuation
-Corporate finance
-Quantitative methods

Semester 2
-Auditing and assurance
-Advanced management accounting
-Corporate financial strategy
-Financial risk management
-Research methods

Semester 3
-Dissertation or Company Internship and Report


The MSc is an important stepping-stone for those who want to become, for example, Accounting and Financial Managers, Professional Accountants, Financial Analysts and Financial Consultants.


As part of the Accounting and Financial Management MSc degree students have the option of enrolling on the internship programme. This module normally lasts between 8–12 weeks and provides students with an opportunity to undertake a workplace project on behalf of an organisation.

Coventry University Business School works closely with companies across the UK and Europe to offer a wide variety of internships.

Students must successfully meet the following assessment criteria:
-Academic: successful completion of all Semester 1 modules including research methods at the first attempt
-CV short-listing: submit a CV which will be used for competitive short-listing by the internship panel
-Presentation: prepare and successfully deliver a formal presentation
-Interview: interview with the university internship panel

After completing the Internship, you are required to write an extensive report based on the managerial and educational experience derived from the internship itself and present your findings to both the employers and academic staff.


To prepare students for the challenges of the global employment market and to strengthen and develop their broader personal and professional skills Coventry University has developed a unique Global Leaders Programme.

The objectives of the programme, in which postgraduate and eligible undergraduate students can participate, is to provide practical career workshops and enable participants to experience different business cultures.
