Accounting and Finance (CIMA) - MA

Course Description

The Accounting & Finance MA programme offers you the opportunity to gain the essential knowledge and skills in the area of Accounting, Finance and Financial Management through a structured and focused programme of academic studies.

The Accounting & Finance MA Programme also enables you to develop a professional accountancy career and study CIMA through the Master’s Gateway route.

The Master’s Gateway route involves sitting CIMA’s Gateway exam/ Management Case Study Exam. (The content of the MA in Accounting and Finance programme prepares you to sit this examination during the course). Once you have passed this three hour exam, you’ll be granted 12 exam exemptions from the certificate, operational and management levels and you’ll also gain the intermediary award ‘CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting’.

You can then start studying the strategic level of CIMA’s Professional Qualification and work towards completing it to gain the full Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.

PROGRAMME AT A GLANCE

The Accounting & Finance MA Programme enables you to develop a professional accountancy career and join CIMA through the accelerated ‘gateway’ route.

The Accounting & Finance MA programme prepares and enables you to sit the external CIMA ‘Gateway Examination’. Passing the one three hour examination allows you to claim 11 exemptions from CIMA’s certificate, operational and management level papers, and you will be awarded the CIMA ‘Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting’.

You then only need to sit and pass 3 strategic level examinations, the case study, and fulfil the work based practical experience, before being eligible for full CIMA membership.

Many of our Accounting and Finance staff have extensive industry experience through working in the private and public sectors and third sector organisations. Our academics have also gained advanced qualifications at some of the leading academic institutions in the world and are committed to delivering academic learning of the highest quality, helping you to stretch your mind and fulfil your university ambitions.
