CIFE is one of the six institutions of excellence to receive an operating grant from the EU under the "Jean Monnet Activities" of the Erasmus+ Programme. Founded in 1954, CIFE has its head office in Nice and branch offices in Berlin, Brussels and Istanbul.

The Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE) was created in 1954. Its founders understood the necessity to train professionals and citizens in the subject of a united Europe. The breadth of its geographic engagement and its variety of academic programmes testify to CIFE's commitments : a confident, future-oriented vision of Europe and an awareness of the challenges of a changing world.

CIFE offers intrinsically European education, going beyond the teaching framework of national education. Its students form an itinerant international community.

CIFE provides excellent academic teaching, offering students problem-focused learning at the crossroads of theory and practice in the field of European studies. This is granted by its own international faculty as well as guest lecturers coming from renowned academic institutions and research centers. Next to its academic network, practitioners from international and EU organisations contribute to CIFE's programmes.

CIFE offers postgraduate university courses and has been at the vanguard in developing digital higher education programmes. Various practical workshops provides students with strong skills and competences. In addition, CIFE has summer university programmes and organises seminars and training sessions.

Every year, students from all continents and a great variety of countries enroll in its programmes, which lead to a degree at Master level (EQF 7) recognised by the French state. The graduates of CIFE’s Master’s programmes work as Senior officials in European institutions, policy officers within the UN framework, administrators, diplomats, consultants, researchers for think tanks, lobbyists, and academic experts.

The European Commission supports the CIFE as an institution of excellence and the French state has recognised its graduate programmes as a qualification at Master level (level 7 EQF). This recognition demonstrates that the graduates of CIFE’s Master’s programmes have strong professionals skills and that CIFE’s Alumni succeed in the professional world. The accrediting body (CNCP) verifies that at least three quarters of CIFE’s graduates work in the professional field covered by the qualification.
