About Cardiff Metropolitan...
The Cardiff School of Education has over 2000 students supported by over 100 academic and administrative staff. The School is divided into three Departments, Initial Teacher Education and Training (ITET), Humanities, and Professional Development. Together, these three Departments offer a wide range of programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In 2001 the School celebrated 50 years of ITET provision in Cardiff and it remains the largest in Wales and one of the largest centres for ITET in the United Kingdom. It has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its provision that has been publicly recognised by Estyn through its inspection process. Both the Department of Humanities and Department of Professional Development have excellent recruitment figures and their programmes have an increasing national and internal reputation for excellence.
The research culture in the School also continues to grow. As we attract more full-time and part-time M. Phil., Ed.D. and PhD students, including those from the international context, the School has increased its research output.
Many colleagues within the School are involved in the in-service training of teachers and other professionals. There is an ever-increasing amount of Enterprise activity undertaken by the School which all complements its core business of delivering high quality education and training.
Cardiff is a wonderful city in which to study and the Cardiff School of Education has an enviable reputation for the excellence of its provision.
