We ensure that you are confident in both English and all business concepts by providing you networking activities, co-op sessions and multiple opportunities for success.

A Goodman MBA will provide you with the academic knowledge, real world experience, and the confidence to use your skills to make a difference. You’ll be adaptive and relevant, ready for the challenges your future holds.

Integrated, global approach

Our MBA (ISP) graduates are successful because of our focus on a strong integrative and practical approach to management with a global perspective, numerous opportunities to be engaged in the community and ongoing chances to improve your English language skills. You’re part of a community that is focused on your success, both during your MBA and beyond.

Your classes are composed of classmates from around the world, ensuring an integrated global approach to Canadian and global business theory. It’s a supportive environment, with your classmates and professors working in partnership to enhance your understanding of your subject and develop your communication and presentation skills.

Helping you transition comfortably

The integration process begins the moment you arrive on campus. Through our mandatory Business English Program you will get a four-week customized course in business reading, writing listening and speaking. We also ensure that you adapt socially. In between classes, we’ve scheduled a full four weeks of activities and trips. You’ll visit Niagara Falls and Toronto, explore St. Catharines and settle into your new life. You’ll know your classmates, the Niagara region and feel comfortable and ready to begin your coursework.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT

Goodman MBA (ISP) graduates range from recent undergraduates who wish to get a head start on their education to managers with several years of experience who wish to learn the theory and best practices behind their actions. What all graduates have in common is their commitment to adding a Canadian business education to their international backgrounds.

More about MBA (ISP)

Our MBA (ISP) curriculum combines the best of our practical MBA curriculum with a focus on global business integration, and puts North American business practices into a cultural perspective.

MBA (ISP) Program Plan

Goodman’s MBA (ISP) is an innovative program designed to meet your needs as an international student, combining an intensive Business English Program with our comprehensive MBA core curriculum and flexible specializations. All of your coursework is taken in classes exclusively composed of your fellow international students.

The general stream provides you with a flexible program plan and the ability to take a variety of elective courses in different fields. The general stream is ideal if you have a wide range of interests, or are planning on working in general management and want to gain a competitive edge.

Industry Involvement with Co-op

Our MBA (ISP) includes an optional paid co-op term where you can gain valuable skills, link theory to practice and make important connections. Your co-op term is offered at the end of your MBA program and ensures that you’ve had a chance to strengthen your English language skills and are ready to transition into your new career.

Our MBA (ISP) students hold co-op positions such as project manager, marketing assistant, financial analyst, tax practice intern.

We offer six MBA specializations:

ACCOUNTING/ CPA ACCREDITED

The CPA/MBA pathway offers a CPA-Accredited stream that provides graduates with advanced standing in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). The new accredited stream allows non-accounting university graduates to pursue an MBA and an accounting designation at the same time. Goodman is currently the only business school in Ontario to offer a combined MBA and CPA program.

BUSINESS ANALYTICS

Business analytics uses data and statistical methods to help organizations gain insight from their data in order to analyze historical data, predict customer behaviour or help improve business processes. The field has increased in popularity in recent years due to the increase in data available to organizations from customer loyalty programs, e-commerce transactions, and even sensory data from machines.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

The operations management specialization includes a focus on project management, quality management, logistics and supply chain management. Courses will cover many of the topics required for the Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) professional designations from APICS -The Association for Operations Management (formerly the American Production and Inventory Control Society).

FINANCE

This specialization is ideal if you are seeking a focus mainly on investments and portfolio management. This program has a high degree of correlation with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

MARKETING

Provides you with an integrated managerial approach to marketing that helps you apply the theoretical principles of marketing to practical, real world problems. Emphasis is placed on issues that relate to marketing in the global business world.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Designed to provide you with a strong foundation in the theory and practice of HR. This specialization provides you with the majority of the course work necessary for the CHRP designation.

Whether your aim is to make a career switch, accelerate your current career, or start your own business, the Rotman MBA will enable you to reach your professional and personal goals.

The Full-Time Rotman MBA program is an intense program that combines 16 months of academic study and 4 months for an internship . It begins in the first year with a core curriculum that introduces our unique problem solving and creative methodology with the fundamental disciplines of business. In your second year, you may choose to specialize in a particular area of interest, or develop a broader skill set through over 90 elective courses.

- First Year: Foundations
Beginning in September, the first year of the program is divided into two core terms focused on building your MBA toolkit in the major functional areas of business. These core terms are bracketed by shorter foundational and capstone terms that are designed to introduce and reinforce our unique approach to problem solving and decision-making.

Capstone Course:
Unique to Rotman, the Capstone Course allows you to apply your modelling and problem solving skills to business problems that corporations are currently facing. Working directly with companies and raw data, you analyze a messy business predicament and develop strategic recommendations to present to the organization’s executives.

Self-Development Lab (SDL):
The Self-Development Lab (SDL) has been carefully designed to give you highly personalized feedback on your behavioural performance, communication style, and personal presence through a series of intensive, individual coaching sessions and small group workshops.

You will be guided by experts, including trained psychologists, professional playwright and former management consultants, to develop and nurture your self-awareness and the interpersonal skills that are key to becoming an effective collaborative problem-solver.

Take advantage of the four-month internship to:
- Test drive a new career

Graduates will benefit from an education from one of the world’s most prestigious business schools, while getting real-world experience that will ultimately help them land a career that they love.

As an MM student, here is what you can expect to graduate with:
A solid business foundation: In 9 months, you’ll gain knowledge and practice in all aspects of the business world, from Marketing to Corporate Finance to IT for Management. It’s the type of education you need to speak intelligently about business, no matter what industry you go into.

Meaningful work experience: Imagine gaining the experience to include things like “proposed an international market expansion strategy for a not-for-profit” or “developed a fundraising strategy to preserve BC’s Wilderness” on your resume. With the Community Business Project a compulsory work experience portion of the program, you will get just the right type of training that will not only be a fulfilling experience for you, but also just as remarkable to your future employer.

The ability to ace the interview: Your resume will get your foot in the door, but it’s your performance at the interview that will land you the job. Our Career Centre will be an instrumental part of interview training – from how to properly research the company beforehand to how you articulate your 30-second pitch at the start of the interview (arguably the make or break part of the interview) to tailoring your message so that it’s relevant to the company.

The MBA in Executive Management at Royal Roads University is designed for working professionals, by working professionals. We’ve used our experience in the industry to create a program that gives you the solid foundation required of today’s business leaders, as well as the opportunity to put your learning to work through hands-on practice. No matter what your career aspirations are, you’ll be able to use the tools and techniques found in your program to move your organization forward.

Who It's For

Experienced managers and business leaders who are looking for versatility and customization of their MBA experience. The program builds on each student’s current knowledge and experience to develop the strategic skills business growth depends upon, and provides a broad understanding of critical issues in management leadership. It also allows students to select electives in sustainability, innovation or coaching for an individualized MBA experience that aligns with their career goals.

The Royal Roads University Learning Model

At Royal Roads University, we use a cohort learning model for many of our programs, including the MBA. Our unique learning model requires you to work with your team, sharing personal experiences and diverse perspectives to develop unique solutions to projects and challenges. Working together ensures that everyone contributes to and benefits from the program, and the connections you create through our cohort environment form a powerful network of support you can turn to during your program and after graduation.

An Investment in Education

The MBA program at Royal Roads University is challenging and requires compromises between you and your family, friends, and employers. Your cohort depends on you to contribute and participate in group projects and assignments, and you’ll need to allocate enough time to manage your assigned readings and individual tasks. It’s important to discuss these requirements with the important people in your life, so you can plan out mutually acceptable arrangements before you start your program. The program is challenging, but the experience is invaluable.

Team-Based Learning

Your program will include students from across Canada as well as internationally; typically about 40 years old with 15 or more years of professional experience. One of the biggest benefits of this mixture of personal and professional experience is the opportunities created by developing your professional network. You can expand your network around the globe, finding access to resources outside of what your competition can discover. And that’s a great way to build your business and professional exposure.

Organizational Management Project

The Organizational Management Project (OMP) is the major integrative learning activity of the MBA Program, and offers a rich learning opportunity through the application of theory to a real-world situation. By applying theory to a real world-situation, completion of the OMP enhances the skills of the learner and provides a valuable contribution to the client or host organization.

More specifically, in the OMP, learners will examine a management problem, conduct academic and best case research, analyze options, and provide recommendations and a high-level implementation plan in a final report for the client or host organization. The management problem to be researched and analyzed is identified in collaboration with an organization. MBA learners may choose to conduct their OMP with an external organization, or it can be conducted within a learner’s own workplace provided the project is not related to the learner’s own position and does not involve his/her direct reports. The MBA Program Office will also work with learners to identify potential projects with corporate or not-for-profit organizations that have indicated their interest in being involved with our program in this capacity.
