  • Advanced management This specialization is designed for students who want to develop the broad set of skills necessary for senior-level general-management positions. Complementing your strong foundation in leadership and management, you will take advanced courses across business disciplines. The specialization teaches you how to effectively strategize and address the realities of today’s global workplace, including how to create and manage high-performing teams, negotiate and resolve organizational challenges, manage a global supply chain, and analyze and react effectively to geopolitical shifts.
  • Entrepreneurship In teams of three or four, students collaborate with inventors to bring an actual product with a differentiating technological advantage to market. Designed to develop both the hard and soft skills needed to create a successful startup, the specialization includes tasks and deliverables that must be completed in addition to the regular coursework. Meetings with entrepreneurs allow participants to learn directly from experts who have launched their own companies. The specialization culminates in a grand-jury pitch presentation judged by venture capitalists and other entrepreneurial experts. 
  • Finance The globalized economy is creating an increasing demand for professionals with well-established expertise in international corporate finance. This specialization provides students with the key tools needed to thoroughly understand an international company’s accounts and to take actionable decisions that impact its financial performance. Combining fundamental learning with real-life practice, this specialization prepares students for careers directly in the financial services industry (investment banks, money management, financial analysis, private equity, hedge funds, etc.) and for positions such as CEO/CFO and treasurer in non-financial corporations. 
  • Marketing The Marketing Specialization is a complementary set of theoretical and experience-based courses that teach students how to develop innovative marketing strategies and solve real-world marketing problems. Courses within the curriculum are cutting-edge and insightful, with an emphasis on big data, digital marketing, new product development, pricing tactics, luxury strategies, and how to influence decision making. Fieldwork projects

Experiential learning is at the very heart of our MBA program. Fieldwork projects allow students to apply classroom-taught knowledge in a real-world setting. A fieldwork project is somewhat similar to a consulting project in that it is a high-level project addressing a company's strategic challenge. They allow participants to put into practice what they have learned during their MBA, working in a company or sector that is closely linked to their future professional goals.

What is a Fieldwork Project?

Fieldwork projects take place during the customized phase. Fieldwork projects are often seen as an ideal way to gain experience in a new sector and/or in a new job function. They are done throughout an entire term, earning 24 credits.

The choice to do a fieldwork project is entirely up to the student. 

A fieldwork project can be carried out individually or in a team and be done anywhere in the world. It is therefore a great opportunity to work with some of the best minds and companies from all over the globe.

The HEC Paris MSc in International Finance (MIF) program caters for highly-motivated top achieving graduates looking to succeed in a career in finance and consulting. The program has a strong analytical focus yet is accessible from either business and finance (business track) or economics, math, physics, engineering (accelerated track) backgrounds.

A flexible curriculum

A ‘tailored-designed’ approach towards education is at the core when designing programs at HEC Paris. This is shown in at least two aspects of the HEC Paris MSc International Finance curriculum:

  • The courses taken during the first semester depend on your experience before joining HEC Paris. If you have already covered basic financial accounting, investment theory, and corporate finance, you will start finance classes at an advanced level (business track). If you have not done so, you will start at a more basic level with significantly more class hours at an accelerated pace to enable you to cover the same material by the end (accelerated track)
  • The second semester is comprised of more than 40 Concentration as well as free electives. More concretely, students must choose between a specialization in Corporate Finance and a specialization in Capital Markets. In addition, they have access to more than 15 free electives.

Balance between theory and practice

The number of hours spent in the classroom by HEC MIF graduates significantly exceeds international standards. Around half of that time will be spent in front of world class researchers, imparting you state-of-the-art knowledge. The other half will be spent in front of top-level practitioners. The latter is one of the many ways in which the learning experience at HEC Paris differs to most and adds another dimension to teaching. We feel it is important to complement theoretical teaching by using top researchers and practitioners lectures to give our graduates that "extra edge" over graduates from other institutions. The more competitive the environment, the more important having that extra edge is.

Strong and cohesive peer group

Who your peers are matters: with regards to the quality of your learning experience, the perception of potential employers and for the value of your network after you graduate. This is why academic performance is at the top of our admissions criteria. However at HEC we look for more than just academic excellence: smart, ambitious individuals will underperform without adequate interaction. We put a strong emphasis on group interaction and encourage it in any way we can. For instance:
