It is the ideal course for those looking to excel in business within management positions in the fashion industry. The course is global in its focus and works closely with fashion industry professionals and fashion organisations.

You’ll build a portfolio of skills and knowledge that will give you a strong grounding in fashion business practices and the application of innovative thinking in a commercial context.

This new MA builds on the success of the BA (Hons) Fashion Management & Marketing course at UCA Epsom and provides a learning environment where you can develop both creative and strategic skills in fashion business, management and marketing.

You’ll be taught the core principles of fashion business and management through a range of approaches, including lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops, and will undertake both formative and summative assessment including reflective personal blogs and journals.

The course will support you in developing your practice through relevant research, a deep understanding of how the fashion industry operates, and engagement with global fashion brands, in order to plan and produce a major project that is unique to you.

Running throughout the course is a strong emphasis on both independent research and participatory group work. If you’re a full time student, you’ll have scheduled teaching for up to two days a week, as well as access to workshops and studios for a further three days (as agreed with your tutor). Our MA Design, Innovation & Brand Management course gives you the opportunity to study a combined curriculum that will significantly improve your professional and managerial capabilities.

Our course encourages you to consider the value of branding in today's competitive global environment, where organisations continue to compete in overcrowded markets. As consumers become more sophisticated and the plethora of products more similar, the need to differentiate through emotional attachment has become increasingly important.

The key to successful brand development is an understanding of its synergistic relationship with innovation. The popular view has been that branding is connected with logos, advertising and manipulation, whilst innovation is to do with more process-orientated development.

For us, branding is about delivering a rewarding experience to customers, while innovation is about an organisational effort aimed at differentiating a company through original value creation. In other words, each is inextricably linked yet individually defined.

As a student on this course, you'll benefit from working alongside students on the MA Graphic Design, MBA Creative Industries Management and MA Fashion Management & Marketing courses.

This course is part of an exciting new portfolio of postgraduate courses which share common units in the first semester.

While this course has a high taught component, you'll be expected to lead and support projects and coursework outside of taught hours with tutorial support. Your learning will initially be based in lectures and workshops and will be aided by individual and group projects and presentations. Sessions then become increasingly workshop and project-led, including a live consultancy project. The final stage of the course is self-led, and you’ll develop strong cognitive skills and become self-reliant in your studies. You’ll benefit from a structured programme of tutorials which will support your course work.
