This course is of interest to anyone working in the areas of preventative health, fitness and wellbeing- associated environments. This includes sports science, gyms, mental health and community agencies, primary healthcare and leisure professionals and practitioners working in established areas where the focus of the client group is on exercise
and wellbeing.

It will also appeal to a range of wellness professionals and practitioners wanting to progress their expertise to master's level, enabling them to seek work across the health exercise and wellbeing sectors.

It will benefit those who are looking to extend their educational academic skills and knowledge in relation to health exercise and wellbeing, and will contribute to continuing professional development.

What will this course cover?

We have developed this course with a range of health and exercise specialists to address the needs of the contemporary workforce.

The course adopts a cross-disciplinary approach to studying health exercise and the concept of wellbeing. It will explore issues around health and wellbeing, using multiple theoretical perspectives drawn from sports science and nutrition, applied social sciences, public health policy and health sciences.

The course has a modular structure which is related to the work-related needs of students. You will be able to develop research skills in your particular area of interest and will be encouraged to relate this to client- focused practice, helping to enhance your practice and career prospects. There are also opportunities for you to gain on site gym experience as well as acquire industry-related awards within the nutrition module of the course.

The course will be delivered either part-time over two years or full-time over one year with a combination of face to face contact, independent study and distance learning opportunities.

Attendance and Personal Study

Full-time: You will be expected to attend two days per week.

COURSE OVERVIEW

IMG is the world's largest independent producer. It has major relationships with broadcasters including the BBC for the Football League show, snooker and darts, Channel Four for its exclusive horse racing coverage, and ESPN in the US for the Open Championship. It also enjoys a string of other important client relationships, most notably with Wimbledon, the R&A for the Open Golf Championship, the BCCI for IPL Cricket, FIFA, UEFA and the New York Road Runners (NY Marathon).

IMG produces Sport 24, the first ever-live global premium 24-hour sports channel for the airline and cruise industries, as well as other in-flight programming for over 50 airlines, and is also a partner with Associated Press for the sports news agency SNTV, and with the European Tour for European Tour Productions, the world's most prolific producer of golf programming.

The diploma course is 12 months full-time and is delivered at the NFTS and at IMGs' state-of-the-art facility IMG Studios.

Sports Therapy is a rapidly developing area of healthcare, with the public and sporting population becoming increasingly aware of the requirements to care for their bodies from a health and exercise perspective. This does mean that they are more at risk of injury. By studying this course you could become part of this profession working with elite athletes, in the NHS, or as part of your own Sports Therapy business.

This full-time, one year degree offers sports science (or similar) graduates the opportunity to develop the practical and theoretical skills to become a graduate Sports Therapist. On successful completion of this masters you will be entitled to become a member of The Society of Sports Therapists and able to practice as a Sports Therapist in your chosen field of specialism.
