About University of Kent, Brussels, ...
Brussels School of International Studies (BSIS) is a multidisciplinary postgraduate school of the University of Kent bringing together the disciplines of politics, international relations, law and economics to provide in-depth analysis of international problems such as conflict, security, development, migration and the political economy and legal basis of a changing world order.
Around 200 students are pursuing Master's and Doctoral degrees in Brussels. Degrees are full degrees of the University of Kent, and are also accredited by the higher education accrediting body for the Flemish Community in Belgium (NVAO) and recognised by the Flemish Government.
The students are drawn from over fifty countries worldwide. The strong international composition of our student body contributes significantly both to the academic as well as to the social experience at BSIS. The value-added of a location in Brussels is the opportunity to expose students of international issues to the working of major international organisations such as the EU and NATO and the many international and non-governmental organisations based in Brussels. Students have the added opportunity of undertaking an internship with one of these organisations.
You may choose to focus on one area, but you also have the possibility of selecting one of these subjects as a secondary area of focus. You could, for instance, read for an LLM in International Law with International Migration, or an MA in International Development with International Conflict and Security. This possibility of a combined degree reflects the interdisciplinary ethos of the School. In your in-depth study at BSIS, your area of study will likely be interdisciplinary; this programme option will allow your programme and diploma to reflect the intrinsic interdisciplinary nature of your degree and to enhance your profile. You will be able to make a choice on your secondary area of focus at the beginning of the academic year. You should submit an application for the programme that interests you most, you will then be able to choose whether you choose a secondary area of research on arrival at BSIS.
