Masters Degrees in Body Awareness

We have 12 Masters Degrees in Body Awareness

Masters degrees in Body Awareness provide advanced study of the way the human body moves when performing certain artistic gestures, typically in dance performance. MA courses are typical for this field, with some covering mostly taught elements, and other being more research-focused. Entry requirements normally include an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, such as Choreography or Performance Studies.

Why study a Masters in Body Awareness?

## An array of dance types may be explored on these courses, from Ballet to contemporary dance, as well as other forms of movement including physical theatre. Practical training often includes contact improvisation, Pilates and yoga. This is to help you deepen your understanding of both creative processes for performance, and your personal physical capabilities. Through investigations of different types of performance, you will analyse the body’s shape, parts moved to perform actions, and the bases (body parts) used to support a dancer during different movements. You will typically then explore methods to alter and experiment with Body Awareness through individual performance research projects, sometimes through professional placement. Careers may range from dance choreography to theatre performance, as well as non-traditional careers such as dance movement psychotherapy and physiotherapy.
