It is nowadays a truism that accelerating globalisation makes the world of international business a demanding and challenging place. Yet it is important to remember that change has always been part of the way we live our lives. Historically, people who have been the most successful at handling change have been those who have engaged in higher education at some point in their lives.

Successful people are generally those who have an attitude of not just adapting to changing circumstances, but who anticipate the direction of change and who can thrive in dynamic environments.

By studying international business at FH Kufstein you can be assured that you will receive a truly modern higher education in business that will help you succeed.

This comprehensive new master's degree, with its international orientation, allows students to choose from one of two specialisations, whilst simultaneously offering a wide range of electives.

Two Specialisations

The specialisations are in marketing/management and finance. The marketing/management option is designed to provide a sound management education in the broad area of marketing. A thorough understanding of services marketing, consumer marketing, consumer behaviour, social marketing and social psychology is integral to the marketing management specialisation.

The finance option, which is built upon a comprehensive economics base, includes study in the areas of corporate finance, multinational business finance, behavioural finance as well as the economics of uncertainty.

Lectures in English

Given that English is the language of international commerce, all lectures are conducted in English. Moreover, social skills are fundamental to successful business operations in an international environment. Students are given the opportunity to deepen their communication and negotiation abilities, whilst simultaneously gaining important insights into team development and conflict management. Graduates have the ability to think systematically.

Schumpeter for the 21st century

Conducting business in an entrepreneurial way and having the capacity for innovation are the most important competitive factors in many business sectors today. To this end, the Austrian-born economist, Joseph Schumpeter, created the term "creative destruction": The stronger incessantly pushes the weaker. The existing economic structure is altered through innovation. Companies failing to rise to this challenge disappear from the market place. However, anyone determining the rules of the game as an innovator, not only generates wealth and social benefits, but may also achieve a temporary monopoly profit.

Innovations are not just the rare, trailblazing "break-throughs". Value is alos generated from companies by creative product improvements, altered processes, new markets and more intelligent organizational syltes. Entrepreneurial opportunities are constantly arising in technologies and markets, and many ideas are just waiting for their commercial implementation. The ability to make use of them will become a key qualification for executives and managers. It is particularly at the interface between economics and technology that there lies a great deal of unexplored potential.

The Program

The Professional MBA Entrepreneurship & Innovation provides the appropriate skills and techniques, and thereby teaches entrepreneurial thinking and acting. The lecturers are internationally renowned experts. The organizers, the TU Wien and the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), represent the link between technological excellence and business competence. This Professional MBA is an important step in the transfer of cutting-edge knowledge and management skills at the highest international level.

In this program, innovation is understood as the process through which knowledge and creativity lead to product or service changes. Entrepreneurship is then the process through which knowledge and creativity generate new ways of delivering these products and services, either through a new organization or through reformation of an existing enterprise.

Course detail

Supply chain networks are the skeletons that underpin the business world. These networks are increasingly global in nature, with products consisting of parts manufactured in different regions of the world, assembled in other locations, and then shipped across continents to retailers and consumers. Such complex networks consist of manufacturers and their suppliers, shippers and carriers using various modes of transportation, distribution centers where the products are stored and sent to retailers which ultimately supply the customers. Supply chains involve many decision-makers interacting with one another, sometimes competing, and at other times cooperating out of necessity.

The Master in Supply Chain Management focuses on the analysis, design, management, and operation of supply chains in manufacturing and professional service industries. Using a broad definition of supply chain management (SCM), supply chain problems are being tackled in profit and non-profit environments. The former includes retailers, wholesalers, logistics service providers, manufacturers, and suppliers, while the latter includes the public sector and non-governmental organizations, for example in disaster relief logistics.

Format

You can choose two out of six specialization areas following your interests:

- Business Analytics in Supply Chains
