Whether you want to expand your field of expertise, or deepen it, this unique one-year MA Architecture and Urbanism course will enrich your knowledge and enhance your career.

The programme is aimed at architecture graduates wishing to specialise, or at those within the “built environment” – such as planners, psychologists, quantity surveyors or designers.

This is a bespoke degree in which you can take advantage of the wide range of study areas, or concentrate your energies on a specific area.

For instance, if you work as a planner, you might find the Urban Design modules most profitable. If you are a conservation officer, the range of options for Architecture and Heritage could fit the bill. If you are an architect, the Architecture and Practice specialisms could add most to your own practice.

This programme has been awarded full accreditation from the Landscape Institute, and develops critical and practical skills that directly address the growing field of landscape architecture. It is predicated upon understanding the best of current local and international landscape practice, while emphasising the development of intuitive and analytical processes to test and develop new forms of landscape practice. It welcomes students as collaborators in a programme that seeks to develop new strands to contemporary landscape architecture that are innovative in approach to materials and the temporal possibilities at the core of landscape. It expands material and contextual interests into the natural and urban environment and actively seeks to explore the possibilities inherent in the temporal design opportunities that landscape architecture encompasses.

The programme is designed to develop intellectual and practical professional tools for landscape architects, and through project-based studies search for new solutions to the increasing complexity of our urban landscapes, where the social, political and economic, as well as spatial pressures, are most intense. The programme aims to work in collaboration with local and international agencies on live projects where possible.

Key Facts

Has excellent student facilities and small class sizes allowing for in-depth study.
Builds upon an established design culture in the school.
