About the programme

Widely considered the new epidemic of the 21st century, heart failure is a leading cause of hospitalization in patients over 65 years of age. The increasingly complex demands of treating such patients calls for a new kind of physician, i.e. a cardiologist who is not only competent in clinical medicine and pharmacotherapy, but is also skilled in cardiac devices and their programming. This specialist must also be highly knowledgeable in imaging modalities and procedures of the coronary circulation and valvular apparatus, and similarly qualified in the management of patients with end-stage heart failure.

Program Features

PCHF consists of a two-year programme with eight modules of 2,5 days each, a total of 160 hours lectures and 140 hours of self-study. Each module is chaired by an internationally recognized expert. Modules will be taught in Brussels and Zurich.

MBA Programme Overview

Core courses provide the broad range of skills that MBAs seek. Integration courses tie together the functional skills encountered in the Core phase. They are strategic and practical. Students also have the option to write a business plan or a research paper, if this better aligns with pursuing their post-MBA career goals. Part-time MBA

The 24-month Part-Time MBA programme is taught in English and has a monthly modular structure with students attending class 4 days per month. Classes are delivered in Zurich and St.Gallen, with additional modules in Copenhagen and Oxford. The programme starts in August each year. The programme is designed with working professionals in mind to allow participants to remain in full-time employment while benefiting from the merits of an MBA education. Part-time MBAs can also take electives at Copenhagen Business School, Imperial College London, Macquarie University and Nanyang Technological University.

What is the programme format?

The programme is designed for busy executives who need to combine career and family commitments with the demands of MBA studies. The flexibility of the part-time approach enables most participants to graduate within two years. However, study may be spread over a longer period if necessary, to a maximum of six years.

Typically, your MBA studies will be made up of:
- monthly intensive seminars delivered by Strathclyde academics at our centre in Zurich, which is conveniently located at Zurich airport
- off-campus learning and support facilitated by our virtual learning environment

You’ll work in an international environment alongside like-minded classmates and be part of our long established network of students and alumni from our international postgraduate centres.

A highlight of the Strathclyde calendar is the annual MBA Summer School which takes place in Glasgow, over May and June. The summer school is open to all study routes of the MBA who have reached the elective stage of the programme. Qualifications and experience

For entry to the MBA programme you must:
- hold a degree from a UK university, or equivalent academic qualification from a comparable non-UK institution. If you studied for your undergraduate degree at a non-UK institution we will need a copy of your degree transcript. Professional qualifications will also be considered.
- be at least 24 years of age.
- have a minimum of three years' full-time postgraduate experience where the management of people and resources has played a significant role.

Entry at Diploma level may be offered to applicants who do not hold sufficient recognised degree level qualifications, but who do:
- hold non-degree/professional qualifications plus at least five years' varied management experience.
- have no formal qualifications but extensive and varied management experience (10 or more years).
- are exceptional candidates over the age of 24 with a minimum of two years' managerial experience. This is available only to candidates applying to routes other than full-time.

Admissions testing

Although the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is not a standard requirement of our admissions process, strong verbal reasoning and numerical abilities are critical for the MBA and we may ask you to undertake such a test.

Competence in English

The MBA programme is highly interactive and requires a high level of competence in English speaking, writing, reading and understanding. A minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS is required if your first language is not English. We may consider applicants who fall slightly below these standards if they're willing to undertake pre-sessional study.

As a discipline it is driven by a strong interaction between problems from biomedical research and rigorous mathematical analysis. Complex scientific challenges require the development of new and appropriate statistical methods. Currently such challenges emerge, for example, in environmental and infectious disease epidemiology, personalized and evidence-based medicine and molecular life sciences, especially genomics, proteomics, epigenomics.

The Master Program in Biostatistics of the Univeristy of Zurich is specialized master program, hence it is a useful and direct continuation of a bachelor degree in all fields that include quantitative aspects, e.g. mathematics, physics, biology, computer science etc. Students interested and talented in logical reasoning, quantitative analysis, interdisciplinary science and research in the life sciences in general are suitable candidates for the program.

The program is based on the cooperation between the Institute of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science and the Division of Biostatistics of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine. This broad basis allows to offer an education which provides graduates besides a classical training in biostatistics with a vast perspective on statistical approaches and challenges in the life sciences. It is the only - to date - specialized program for the training of biostatisticians in Switzerland. The entire program is taught in English.

The programme focuses on each institution's strengths: International and European Law in Leuven and Arbitration Law, Financial Law and Human Rights in Zurich. Switzerland is a centre of arbitration and banking, and many international institutions are based here.

Upon completion of the programme, students receive a double degree - one from KU Leuven and another from the University of Zurich. A double degree from two leading law faculties in Europe will be of enormous added value for your future professional career in an international context.
