You can enrol in the Food Sciences masters' programme if you hold a bachelors' degree in Food Sciences or in Molecular Biosciences. You can also apply to the programme if you have a bachelors' degree in a related area of the natural sciences from a Finnish or foreign university, or if you have a degree from a Finnish university of applied sciences within food sciences or other related areas of the natural sciences.
Your studies in the Food Sciences masters' programme will offer you a broad education covering courses in the composition and processing of food, in the structures and chemical reactions of food proteins, lipids and carbohydrates, and in food legislation and the safety of food additives.

The MLitt in Creative Writing is a taught postgraduate programme designed to offer you the opportunity to develop your creativity and literary skills in a highly supportive, constructive learning environment. You prepare for the processes and challenges involved in publishing creative written work, whether poetry or prose. There are plenty of courses in which to find your inspiration such as narrative, prose, the role of literature, Irish and Scottish Women's fiction, study of language, Walter Scott, Visual Culture and more.
Many writers continuously perfect their craft whilst honing their skills in areas such as writing for magazines, creating press articles and discussion, developing PR, copy writing to sell wide ranging products and services. New Coursework Master of Arts programme for Humanities students
The new Coursework Master of Arts (Coursework MA) programme is designed to provide a multi-disciplinary grounding for Humanities students in a range of subjects as preparation for further study or future employment. The programme will take either 12 months or three semesters of full-time study to complete. The programme can also be studied part-time.
At the moment, the BA(Hons) is the only postgraduate qualification students can receive student allowances for. For all other postgraduate qualifications, including the MA, you can get student loans but not allowances.
With backing from their department, students can apply for an MA coursework scholarship. This is competitive, i.e. based on grades. This scholarship is $10,000 which goes towards the course fees in the first instance.
Yes. Admittance into a PhD programme, or gaining a doctoral scholarship, depends on factors such as how well you do in your MA, and whether departments have the supervisory capacity for your research. The mininum GPA for applicants is a B+ average, however your supervising department will advise on your eligibility.
The HUMS papers will give you the opportunity to mix with other Humanities students studying a wide range of subjects. They are also designed to give you the broad range of knowledge and skills valued by many employers.
Currently there are three HUMS papers on offer, from which you will need to pick two.
All papers are 30 points.
