The course is organised into three-hour blocks of teaching and seminar activities, which are based on specialist reading, research and case studies. Modules are assessed through essays, reports, group work, presentations and examinations.

All of our Marketing MSc courses share six core modules (Moving to Masters, Critical Developments in Marketing Theory and Practice, Marketing Planning and Strategy, Marketing Research I: quantitative methods, Marketing Research II: qualitative methods, and a dissertation).

This specialist route includes one subject-specific module (Social Marketing), but you can also select from a range of optional modules which enable you to tailor the course to your interests and career aspirations.

In the final phase of the course, you will complete a 15,000-word dissertation on a marketing topic of your choice, which will require you to make recommendations for real-life marketing practice. Throughout your dissertation, you will receive support from a supervisor who will help to guide you in your research.

Graduates will be well placed to be employed in marketing roles throughout the world in luxury sectors such as jewellery, fashion, tourism, fine wine, spirits and prestige cars. These positions are not confined to in-house marketing management, but also can be in media, digital, brand and communications agencies, in particular those specialising in the luxury marketplace.

Compulsory Modules

You will study eight compulsory modules and a module which helps develop your professional and academic skills. In addition, you will choose two optional modules and you can complete either a dissertation or client project or, if you start the course in September, you also have the opportunity to apply for an 8 month paid work placement in a marketing role. If you choose not to take a work placement, the course lasts 12 months. If you start in September and take the work placement the course last 17 months.

Teaching and learning

Much of the teaching on the course takes the form of interactive workshops, but there are also lectures from staff and visiting speakers. Lectures, discussions, role-play exercises and seminars are linked with selected case studies and assessments to strengthen your practical analysis and decision-making skills. You will develop your skills in working as part of a team through structured group assignments and online group-based marketing simulation.

You will gain practical experience and put your knowledge of marketing approaches and theory into practice during live research projects for an organisation. The Erasmus Mundus Master on Wine Tourism Innovation (WINTOUR) offers a truly integrated study programme which combines the expertise in Tourism and Oenology of three universities and regions: Rovira i Virgili University (URV, Spain), University of Bordeaux (UB, France), and University of Porto (UP, Portugal). These universities are located in highly attractive touristic areas, recognised with the label of human heritage by UNESCO, and with a long tradition on wine, producing speciality wines, such as sparkling, fortified, aged red and sweet wines. The training programme is clearly multi-disciplinary and also multisectorial.

The WINTOUR programme is structured in 120 ECTS divided in two years and 4 semesters. The first 3 semesters are taught each in one University (URV, UB and finally UP), and the last semester is devoted to the final internship which is developed in one of the associated partners' facilities, mostly from the non-academic sector. Thus, students have a common track of 90 ECTS, and a final professional Internship for the development of the Master Thesis of 30 ECTS, where students have to develop a project related to the skills acquired.

The International Event Management MSc provides opportunities to develop skills and knowledge relevant for a multitude of roles within the international events sector. The course is designed flexibly to suit applicants who already have a grounding in events study as well as those wishing to transition from an aligned industry sector, such as business, management, tourism, hospitality or sport.

This program covers the art and luxury management sector with a focus on France and its cultural excellence. Taught in English, this program explores the management, sales and distribution of luxury products using the themes of taste and luxury à la française from Louis XIV to present-day France. Themes covered include the French arts de la table, fashion, gemology, cosmetics and fragrances, interior design, furniture, art objects and design, scenery and décor, etc.

The innovative academic program combines lectures with practical field visits major historical monuments, fashion houses, and workshops that represent French cultural excellence. Legal aspects, finance, luxury marketing and management, communication and strategic marketing are all taught by professionals.

Direct interaction with industry players will allow students to build up a network of top professionals in the field and discover the savoir-faire of different sectors.

Structure

The year is made up of 3 terms: 2 terms of classes (Oct-Dec/ Jan-March) and a term of professional experience in the form of an internship (April-June). The first term ends with a group project to validate the term. During the last two terms, students will work on a personal project that they will be expected to present in front of a jury in validation of their diploma “Titre I”.

Each trimester consists of 200 hours of classes spread out over a 10-week period. Courses are taught in English.Participants are attributed a mentor for personalized coaching as well as group methodology sessions to guide them in the conception and realization of their personal project.

1st Term :

The history of art and style (17th-21st centuries), art law, the management of art objects and artistic projects communication and the marketing of art and luxury goods, defining an artistic project (content, business plan, legal structure, communication, marketing), meeting with professionals in situ during visits and workshops.

2nd Term:

e-communication and e-marketing of art and luxury products, negotiation of art objects, promotion of an artistic production, a brand or an artist, contemporary art and luxury, organizing an exhibit, the history of l’art de la table, the history of fashion and luxury products (fashion and accessories, wine and spirits, gastronomy, jewelry and watches, cosmetics and fragrances, niche brands), the history of interior design, meetings with professionals in situ for visits and workshops, methodology and follow up on personal projects.

3rd Term:

The rapid technological innovation pace, demographic shifts between urban and rural areas, immigration and access to skilled staff, climate change, water issues, and food security are among the topics studied in the International Food and Agribusiness MBA. The MBA in International Food and Agribusiness is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. Upon successful completion of the degree, you will be awarded CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership and will therefore become a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI). You can then apply to the CMI for full Chartered Manager status if you wish.

This MBA provides a unique opportunity for transatlantic study to put the management theories, concepts and strategies learnt into a European or USA context. The MBA may be studied full-time over 12 months or part-time over two or three years.

Undertaking Term One of study in Utah, USA

Applicants who wish to undertake their Term One modules at Utah State University (USU) will need to ensure that they have indicated this in their application by replying the specific question.

Applicants can participate in the US study only if they have paid the required fees (Home/EU: 1/3 of tuition fees, Overseas: 50% of tuition fees) and identified that they want to participate in the US study programme the latest by 30th June.

Please note that the term for the US study in Utah (USU) starts in the first week of August. Late applications for participation in the US term cannot be considered.
