The MSc Real Estate Finance programme will help you understand real estate in the context of the international financial markets. The programme is designed to prepare you for a career in global real estate finance and investment management. It provides participants with the key quantitative and conceptual skills needed to make the complex decisions required in the real estate finance sector. It also places property investment into context with equity, fixed income and financial derivative products. This programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. It is also recognised by the Investment Property Forum, facilitating fast-track membership.

The Real Estate Finance programme is particularly suited to graduates with a degree in a quantitative discipline who wish to develop specialist finance skills that can be used in the real estate sector. This programme not only examines investment in the underlying real estate sector but also provides extensive coverage of Real Estate Investment Trusts, Real Estate Funding, Mortgage Backed Securities and Real Estate Portfolio Management.

This programme is offered jointly with our specialist finance faculty at Henley Business School, the ICMA Centre. You will gain a thorough understanding of financial theory and its application in the context of real estate assets through a combination of academic rigour and commercial relevance. Assessment

ACCOUNTING/ CPA ACCREDITED

The CPA/MBA pathway offers a CPA-Accredited stream that provides graduates with advanced standing in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). The new accredited stream allows non-accounting university graduates to pursue an MBA and an accounting designation at the same time. Goodman is currently the only business school in Ontario to offer a combined MBA and CPA program.

BUSINESS ANALYTICS

Business analytics uses data and statistical methods to help organizations gain insight from their data in order to analyze historical data, predict customer behaviour or help improve business processes. The field has increased in popularity in recent years due to the increase in data available to organizations from customer loyalty programs, e-commerce transactions, and even sensory data from machines.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

The operations management specialization includes a focus on project management, quality management, logistics and supply chain management. Courses will cover many of the topics required for the Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) professional designations from APICS -The Association for Operations Management (formerly the American Production and Inventory Control Society).

FINANCE

This specialization is ideal if you are seeking a focus mainly on investments and portfolio management. This program has a high degree of correlation with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

MARKETING

Provides you with an integrated managerial approach to marketing that helps you apply the theoretical principles of marketing to practical, real world problems. Emphasis is placed on issues that relate to marketing in the global business world.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

MAIB + IBM is a double credential, rigorous, full-time program of 14 months duration (including Internship), with a total of 90 credits. There are no part-time students in the program. The students earn European First Level Master Degree, awarded by the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy and Ontario College Graduate Certificate from Centennial College, Toronto in International Business Management (IBM).

b) MAIB + IBM + Internship Period in Canada (for exploring work in Canada Option) – 15 months
The city of Toronto, a multi-cultural and globally competitive city is home to some of the world’s largest global multi-nationals, banks, business, consulting and financial firms offering students a plenty of opportunities to work and live in Canada.

MAIB students interested in exploring the option of working in Canada will have to enrol at Centennial College for the internship period of 15 weeks: a must in order to comply with the work visa norms of Canadian Government, which may allow up to one year work permit after completing the IBM with an in-Canada internship. Our partner Centennial College will provide all information to students interested in living and working in Canada.

c) MAIB + IBM + MBA – 18 months
MBA Degree from Alliance Business School, Bangalore, India can be achieved with only an additional study period of 4 months with a of total of 30 credits. Additional costs of euro 4.900 apply.

MSc specialization in Finance

The Finance Phd program at Tilburg University has two phases: a preparatory Research Master combining intensive coursework and research that culminates in the writing of a Research Master Thesis (which could later be built out into a chapter of the PhD thesis); and an advanced phase in which students devote all their time to research, at the end of which they complete their PhD dissertation. Most Research Master students are funded by grants given by CentER. PhD students are employees of the University and receive a gross salary of 83000.

Students who have not done graduate work in Finance or Economics before joining the program complete the Research Master in two years. The first year consists of Economics and Econometrics courses preparing the student to specialized work in Finance. The second year is devoted to the Finance Core (four advanced courses in Asset Pricing and Corporate Finance), a few elective courses, and the writing of a Master Thesis. Students who have done graduate work before joining the program are admitted directly in the second year.

After completing the Research Master, students are eligible to start the PhD phase of the program, which typically lasts three years. Supervision during this phase is very close: students often co-author no less than two papers with their supervisors, and write at least one single-author paper under their supervisor’s guidance. Our seminar series (the department hosts over 30 seminars a year with leading scholars from the US and Europe) exposes students to cutting-edge research in all areas of Finance.

Students in the second year of the PhD spend one semester visiting a top University abroad, funded by CentER. These visits provide an early exposure to the international academic scene, create new opportunities of co-authorship, and enrich the students’ network of contacts. Our students have visited Harvard, Yale, London Business School, Caltech, among others.

Most of our PhDs find jobs in Academia. We have a very successful history of placements at top universities in Europe and America, among them Chicago GBS, Toronto Rotman, Cambridge, HEC Paris. Our graduates also show an excellent record of publications, many of them publishing chapters of their theses in top journals shortly after graduation.

Career Perspective MSc specialization in Finance

If you follow the Research Master's program in Business - be it accounting, finance, information management, marketing, operations research, or organization and strategy - you are prepared to continue in a PhD program. More than 75% of the graduates continue at a PhD position at either Tilburg University or another university. 25% of the graduates start a professional career, mostly in the consultancy or financial sector.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor offers an excellent environment for the pursuit of a graduate education. Our Department is enthusiastic, friendly, cooperative and rejuvenated. Of our 23 faculty, nine have been hired since 2000 to complement the established faculty. As summarised in this brochure, our Department has research groups active in all of the traditional areas of Chemistry and Biochemistry and we have also recently formed several new multi-disciplinary research programmes, including The Centre for Catalysis and Materials Research (CCMR) and The Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER). In addition to our people, the Department’s state-of-the-art equipment and completely renovated laboratories provide us with research facilities that are comparable to, or even exceed, those found in the Chemistry Departments of much larger universities. In addition to a complete array of spectrometers and other standard synthetic and characterisation equipment, we have many instruments that are not typically available in a single department. To give only a few notable examples: we have two CCD-equipped X-ray diffractometers; solid-state NMR facilities; an AFM imaging system; Raman and IR microscopes; a fluorescence imaging system; and much more! Furthermore, our geographic location puts us in close proximity to Wayne State University and other large American research universities such as the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. This situation allows the members of our Department convenient access to the other institutions’ facilities, conferences, and visiting speakers.

The greater Windsor region has a highly-diverse population of around 325,000 people. The city boasts dozens of excellent and unique restaurants, a thriving night-life, numerous festivals and events on the waterfront, and a variety of parks and outdoor recreation areas. Windsor has a remarkably low cost of living and has one of warmest climates in the country. In addition, our proximity to the Detroit metropolitan area (pop. ca. 5 million) and the United States provides us with numerous unique advantages over other cities in southern Ontario. For example, one can conveniently attend professional sporting events, major concerts, world-class art galleries, and numerous other attractions that are all located less than one hour drive from the University of Windsor. Furthermore, the Detroit International Airport has flights around the globe and provides us with an often less expensive alternative to flying via Toronto. Special features

An overseas field visit is an integral part of the programme. The cost of the visit is largely covered by the course fee, but students in recent years have also been asked to contribute around £400 towards the costs of the trip, depending on the venue. Recent locations have included Toronto, Barcelona and Berlin.

Fieldcourses may be scheduled at any point during the twelve-month period of the degree programme and this may include time during University vacations. Successful applicants are expected to be available to attend. Countries to be visited may change their immigration and visa regulations at short notice. Planning cannot guarantee that where visas are required for the field course, they will be granted. Planning will ensure that, in the unlikely event this occurs, affected students are not academically disadvantaged.

The programme also includes a module that introduces students to the excitement of working within a professional, `real world' context on a 'live' consultancy project. Working with industrial partners, students will be asked to complete a piece of work on an area of planning, urban regeneration, or environmental management - depending on their chosen specialism - to a standard that is expected and demanded in the planning, environmental management or development professions. This core module is highly regarded by employers and students alike.

Career opportunities

Tackling skills deficiencies in the field, identified by various papers and reviews, and by the Academy for Sustainable Communities (2007) and the Audit Commission (2008), our course meets the needs of a job market in central and local government, regeneration partnerships, consultancies and non-governmental organisations.
