Obiettivi

Il Master in “Scienze Criminologiche applicate all’ Investigazione” si propone di fornire una solida conoscenza sia delle diverse aree coinvolte nello studio delle più allarmanti forme di criminalità, sia delle più moderne tecniche di contrasto delle stesse.
Il percorso formativo proposto intende fornire una preparazione scientifico-applicativa affiancata ad una solida conoscenza metodologico - operativa che tenga particolarmente conto di garantire competenze di tipo criminologico, sociologico, psicologico, giuridico e storico.
La capacità di immaginazione, di pensiero critico e rigoroso degli studenti sarà sviluppato durante tutto il percorso di studio. Il Master avrà altresì come obiettivo l’analisi di specifici aspetti, quali la conoscenza dei processi sociali della criminalità e del sistema di giustizia penale, nonché la capacità di comprendere e di utilizzare diversi tipi di prove, che saranno completate da spendibili competenze particolarmente apprezzate nel mondo del lavoro:
•capacità di presentare e sviluppare un argomento in maniera coesa
•competenza nello specifico settore
•ricerca e risoluzione dei problemi
•capacità di comunicazione
•lavorare come parte integrante di un team


Specificamente, i partecipanti al Master saranno in grado di:
•acquisire le più moderne strategie e metodologie investigative, frutto di avanzati studi ed esperienze internazionali.
•raggiungere una elevata formazione teorica e professionale di una delle figure professionali più affascinanti del nostro tempo: quella dell’Investigatore, e cioè un professionista che deve possedere una spiccata propensione all’analisi scrupolosa e complessiva di un evento criminoso.
•avvalersi delle necessarie abilità professionali per interagire ed operare in specifici e complessi ambiti che vanno dalle Indagini Difensive, alla Security ed all’Intelligence, alle Consulenze e alle Perizie in ambito giudiziario.

Programma didattico

Le attività didattiche del Master si baseranno su lezioni in aula, seminari, esercitazioni, attività applicative, stage, visite guidate. La prova finale sarà costituita da un elaborato/tesi che descriva e dimostri le competenze acquisite in relazione alla pianificazione, metodologia di intervento, strategia e coordinamento e gestione di una investigazione criminale. La frequenza è obbligatoria (è tollerata un’assenza massima pari al 25% delle ore totali)

Sbocchi professionali

Il titolo acquisito con il Master conferisce:
•Competenza tecnica, espressamente prevista dalla vigente normativa, per la richiesta e l’ottenimento delle autorizzazioni di polizia ai fini della conduzione di attività di investigazioni private ai sensi dell’art. 134 del TULPS e nell’ambito del processo penale, nonché solido requisito per l’esercizio di qualsiasi attività nello specifico settore della sicurezza sussidiaria.
•Competenze per l’inserimento in qualità di esperto per l’attività di consulenza presso il Tribunale per i Minorenni, come ausiliario del Pubblico Ministero o del Giudice (art. 9 del DPR 22 settembre 1998, n. 448 - Accertamenti sulla personalità del minorenne).
•Competenze quale componente privato (Giudice onorario) del Tribunale per i Minorenni (art. 2 del RDL 20 luglio 1934, n. 1404)
•Competenze per l’esercizio quale Consulente Esperto dei Centri per la Giustizia minorile (art. 7, comma 6, art. 8 del DL 28 luglio 1989, n. 272)
•Competenze quale collaboratore ausiliario della Polizia Giudiziaria in qualità di Esperto (art. 348, 4 comma, C.P.P.)
•Competenze per attività di Consulenza per le Amministrazioni giudiziarie, degli Enti locali, di Associazioni e Strutture private nel campo della prevenzione, della mediazione, della vittimologia, della preparazione e nell’attuazione di progetti e servizi rivolti agli adulti e ai minori.

Titolo e crediti

L’attività formativa corrisponde a 60 crediti formativi universitari ( CFU ) complessivi e impegnerà gli iscritti per non meno di 1500 ore di apprendimento complessive (lezioni frontali, studio individuale, lavoro di apprendimento, prove di sperimentazione, ricerche e organizzazione delle competenze professionali, distribuite sull’arco di due semestri. Il conseguimento del Master universitario è subordinato al superamento della prova finale di accertamento delle competenze acquisite e delle attività svolte. La prova finale avverrà con valutazione massima in 70/70.

Possono partecipare al master sia studenti italiani che stranieri.
Per poter essere iscritti al Master è necessario essere in possesso di uno dei seguenti requisiti:
a. Titolo di Laurea triennale (I° livello) come da nuovo ordinamento universitario italiano;
b. Titolo di Laurea acquisito secondo le norme del previgente ordinamento universitario italiano.

I titoli di studio conseguiti all’estero verranno valutati dall’organo competente per la dichiarazione di equipollenza, ai solo fini dell’iscrizione al master, secondo la vigente normativa.

Il Master non è a numero programmato.

Potranno presentare domanda di iscrizione (con riserva) al Master anche i candidati privi del titolo di studio previsto ma che lo conseguiranno entro il termine fissato per l’inizio del Master.
Il Master s’intenderà attivato al raggiungimento di un numero minimo di 30 iscritti.

Durata e orario

La durata del master è annuale e impegnerà gli iscritti per non meno di 1500 ore totali di apprendimento e organizzazione delle competenze professionali, distribuite in 4 ambiti disciplinari per un totale di 290 ore frontali. Le lezioni si terranno il venerdì dalle ore 14.00 alle ore 18:00 ed il sabato dalle ore 9:00 alle ore 17:00, per due volte al mese, con intervalli e pausa pranzo. Le lezioni avranno inizio il 10 Gennaio 2014 e si protrarranno fino al 22 Novembre 2014.

The Master in Finance, Insurance and Risk Management aims at preparing students for high level careers in investment, private and commercial banking, securities design and trading, risk and asset management, risk management, asset allocation and actuarial sciences with the strong quantitative background in view of the challenges posed by solvency II.

The Master in Middle Eastern Studies (MIMES) is specifically tailored for graduates of various disciplines and backgrounds, who are interested in obtaining a better knowledge of the Middle East region, taking into account its social-historical complexity and cultural plurality. The program aims to offer solid historical, political and institutional perspectives of the current domestic, regional and international dynamics affecting the stability of the region, as well as a critical outlook on current debates over the Middle East.

Learning objectives

MIMES aims to guide students across this diverse and fascinating region, which, since decades, is at the center of the geostrategic interest of the international system. The program mainly focuses on the contemporary period, through a multi-disciplinary approach ranging over international relations, geopolitics, conflicts and security, economy and energy. Nonetheless, specific sections are devoted to the analysis of the historical and religious foundations of the modern Middle East, from the birth of Islam to the evolution of Islamic thought, law and economy. A dedicated course will offer a linguistic analysis of the political and juridical terminology and a glossary in Arabic. MIMES analyses in details infra-regions and inter-regions peculiarities and relations, from Maghreb to Central-Southern Asia, encouraging a comparative and holistic area studies approach.

The Master is completed with an internship in Italy or abroad within an institution whose mission and activities are consistent with the Master’s program. This gives students the invaluable opportunity to test and strengthen the competencies acquired during the Master and it usually lasts three months. As an alternative, students who do not carry out an internship may choose to attend an Arabic language course. Students will receive support and tutoring for their internship research.

You will be given the opportunity to create, participate in, and/or critique a current piece of public history as part of your coursework assessment on the Public History Workshop module, and your dissertation will demonstrate an engagement with the methods and/or theories of public history, analyse an example of public history, or be an example of public history.

Cultural and Social History Pathway

Explore the varied ways in which understandings of the relationship between evidence and interpretation, language and the material world, economies and identities, have been challenged and changed by the ‘cultural turn’.

This pathway offers you modules which deal with a range of areas, themes and periods, placing you at the cutting-edge of historical thought on issues such as gender, race, class, consumption, modernity, mentalities and identities.

Local and Regional History Pathway
Local (or micro) history, as well as community and family studies, has played an increasingly important part in the development of historical analysis.

We reflect on these developments, drawing on the rich national and comparative literature in these fields, with a primary focus on the period from 1800 to the 20th century.

You also design and conduct a substantial independent study on a chosen historical topic or in the field of local, community or family history.

This MA is designed to allow you to build upon your knowledge and critically consider the theoretical underpinning of societal responses to a range of needs, through policy development and service delivery across children and young people’s sectors in a globalised context.

The majority of units are designed and taught by colleagues within the School of Applied Social Studies or the Institute of Applied Social Research, winners of the 2013 Queen’s Anniversary prize for outstanding achievement and excellence in UK universities and colleges. The departments are recognised for their contribution to policy and practice.

This high quality context is coupled with the opportunities and added value of our extensive professional networks. Partnerships from across private, public and voluntary sectors provide input to courses, as well as research opportunities, practice teachers, placement opportunities and voluntary work experience, making it truly ‘applied’.

Modules

Semester 1 – two core units (2 x 30 credits)
• Dimensions of Childhood and Youth (30 credits)
• Models and methods of social enquiry (30 credits)

Semester 2 – one core unit (30 credits)
• Conceptual Frameworks: Theories Shaping Public Policy for Children and Young People’s Services (30 credits)

Plus two x 15 credit units chosen from:
• The Sexual Exploitation of Children and Young People
• The participation of children and young people in research, policy and service delivery
• Critical issues in the design, delivery and evaluation of services to children, young people and their families
• Disability, Children and Young People
• Gypsies, Roma and Traveller Cultures and Communities: Oppression and Inequality
• Early Years
• Young people, group offending and violent crime
• Complexities of Forced Migration: Human Displacement, Trafficking and Refuge

Assessment

Assessments are designed to allow you to demonstrate high level skills of evaluation, synthesis, critical awareness of scholarship and the ability to formulate solutions and communicate findings.

Assessment aims to enhance the learning experience rather than simply provide academic hurdles to be surmounted. Nonetheless it must offer a reliable test of the your level of academic attainment.

The assessment strategy is intended to enable you to:
• Show originality in the application of knowledge and understand how the boundaries are advanced through research
• Deal with complex issues both systematically and creatively and show originality in tackling and solving problems
• Have the qualities needed for employment in circumstances requiring sound judgement, personal responsibility and initiatives in complex and unpredictable professional environments

Careers

The course will allow you to achieve high levels of personal enquiry with the ability to understand the broader context of the discipline of social policy with particular regard to children and young people.

This knowledge and the ability to apply it, together with the collaborative approach adopted in the teaching and learning strategy, will offer you a transformative experience and equip you with the qualities and skills necessary for employment at a high level across the sector.
