The MSc Financial Management has been designed for those wishing to pursue a career in diverse financial or accounting sectors. In every arena, the effective financial management of funds enables businesses to operate successfully, achieve and supersede their set goals.

The overall aim of the MSc Financial Management programme is to produce postgraduates who are able to make a valid and meaningful contribution within the field of finance. This will be achieved by exposing you to the current theories, concepts and developments within this discipline and by doing so, you will become competent and thoughtful practitioners.

This intellectually challenging programme of study will focus on current issues, themes and applications within the field of finance and financial management, and your analytical, critical and problem solving skills will be extended through the academic evaluation of literature and current financial practices.

You will have the opportunity to develop your practical skills through case studies and worldwide events, by applying financial and management knowledge to improve organisational effectiveness and efficiency. You will cover topics including quantitative methods for finance, financial markets and institutions, strategic management, corporate finance and the globalisation of finance to name but a few.

Furthermore, you will undertake in-depth research in various industries, through completion of a range of assessments and a dissertation. This real-world focus will provide immediate value to your present and future employers.

Quantitive Methods for Finance

Equips you with the necessary foundations in mathematics and statistics to enable the successful study of subsequent modules. You will be provided with mathematical and statistical underpinning for the study of Financial Management, the use of Excel for mathematics of Financial Management and both SPSS and Excel for statistical analysis necessary for research and research analysis

Strategic Management

Introduces you to the strategy process in a range of organisational contexts enabling you to acquire practical experience in dealing with strategic management issues

Financial Markets and Institutions

Enables you to examine and understand why financial markets and institutions exist, and what services those institutions and markets offer. Through the critical analysis and evaluation of both institutions and markets you will be expected to provide suitable decisions and recommendations to limit failures within the industry

Corporate Finance

Provides you with an in-depth analysis of corporate financing, liquidity management, owner return, control and risk management decisions within a real world context

Globalisation of Finance

Provides you with an in-depth knowledge of the global financial system and the causes of global financial instability. The module will use the global political economy perspective as an appropriate framework for understanding the complexities of global finance

Portfolio Management

Develops your understanding of the theory, practice and empirical research in portfolio management and asset allocation at an advanced level

Dissertation

You will undertake an independent financial management dissertation relevant to your field of practice or area of professional interest

The CUHK MSc in Management of Real Estate and Hospitality Assets Program delivers world class and state of the art knowledge in global real estate and hospitality assets. The program of study is based in Hong Kong leveraging upon the locational advantage of Hong Kong as a leader of the real estate and hospitality industries in Asia.

The real estate industry is an important pillar of the economies in Asia and the hospitality industry is one of the largest and fastest growing industries in China and Asia. As the economies in Asia grow, the real estate industries in these economies also grow in prominence. The hospitality industry, in turn, is associated with real estate development, including hotels, serviced apartments, resorts, spas, theme parks, timeshares, shopping centers, airports, gaming, casinos and other entertainment venues.

In addition to the high quality standardized courses, this business program will specifically teach students how to analyze and execute investment propositions in the real estate and hospitality industries given the rapidly changing institutional and economic environment in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Asia. The MSc in Management in Real Estate and Hospitality Assets program aims to cultivate senior level management in these industries, with the objectives of allowing graduates to achieve the following:

They would be able to apply the advanced and updated knowledge to solve business and management challenges in the highly competitive real estate and hospitality industries.
