The primary goal of the Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) program is to provide a quality graduate-level experience that will prepare students for careers in accounting across a wide variety of organizations. The Master of Accountancy degree can assist undergraduate accounting majors in the completion of the requirements to become CPA eligible, as well as help transition students with other undergraduate majors to a career in accounting.

Master of Accountancy students who wish to take the internship course for credit could select, if desired, to earn a Master of Accountancy with an applied option.

Learning Objectives

Students completing the Master of Accountancy shall:

  • possess the skills necessary to become a successful professional in the field of accounting, as demonstrated by research, communication, and analytical skills.
  • possess the skills and professional orientation necessary to become successful professionals in the field of accounting as evidenced by technical competency and ethical awareness.

Prerequisite Courses

To determine if a student will need to take prerequisite courses, a transcript evaluation is conducted at the time of application. Master of Accountancy students must complete twelve credit hours of upper-level accounting beyond principles courses as prerequisites. Normally, prerequisite courses must be completed before enrollment in core or elective courses.

Prerequisite Waiver Policy

Normally, admitted students requiring prerequisite courses will enroll in those courses at The University of Tulsa. However, any of the following may qualify a student for a prerequisite course waiver:

  • Completion, with a grade of B or higher, of a course or courses covering comparable material within the past six years from an AACSB accredited business program or as part of a four-year bachelor’s degree in business administration.
  • Additional coursework, with a grade of B or higher, in the subject area, beyond the principles or introductory courses covering the comparable material.

Prerequisites may be satisfied by traditional classroom courses or online courses.

Satisfactory Progress

A candidate for a Master of Accountancy degree is expected to complete the program in a timely manner. All requirements for the degree must be completed within six years from the date of enrollment in the program. Students who do not make satisfactory progress may be dismissed from the program.

Curriculum

In addition to demonstrating knowledge of and competency in the basic skills and areas of business through completion of or waiver from prerequisite courses, candidates for the Master of Accountancy degree must complete 30 credit hours of advanced study in business.

The core curriculum consists of 6 credit hours of required courses. Students also complete 12-15 credit hours of accounting elective coursework and 9-12 hours of business elective coursework. A thesis is not required for the Master of Accountancy.

A student who selects the “Applied Option” in the Master of Accountancy program will apply business principles in an actual business environment through a formal Collins College of Business internship. In completing all the requirements for the Master of Accountancy, the student must satisfactorily complete an internship course (ACCT 7613 Internship in Accounting) as a requirement. The internship will be secured by the student, but must be approved by the faculty member guiding the internship and by the associate dean.

Core Courses (6 hours)

Electives (24 hours)

Accounting Electives (12 or 15 hours)

Business Electives (9 or 12 hours)

Our School of Management MBA courses have been endorsed by the NHS Leadership Academy to deliver the NHS Master's in Business Administration (MBA) programme, as announced in a speech by the Secretary of State in 2016.

What you will study

The programme provides you with the skills of responsible value generation. The aim, therefore, is to create strategic leaders capable of sustainable and transformative change in a global business environment.

Core Modules

Option Modules

Learning and assessment

Students are expected to take two subjects (modules) every three months.

Each module contains nine study units. Students typically progress by studying one unit from each module per week. This equates to approximately 14-16 hours of study per week. If you don't think that you have enough time to study two modules over the three month period you can always chose to study just one module, lightening your workload considerably.

If work or family life is particularly busy then you can even suspend your studies and restart at a later date. This flexibility means that students can complete a distance learning MBA in 2 to 6 years. We do however strongly advise that students study two modules every three months.

The Bradford Learning Experience

Each module has been designed so that your understanding and knowledge is developed through using a variety of materials from textbooks and academic journal papers through to video clips, podcasts, on line discussions and live on line tutorials.

Assessment

Your knowledge and understanding of each subject area studied will be assessed by the most appropriate means.

This will typically involve the completion of a written assignment, an exam or in some cases an assignment and an exam. If you need to sit an exam we have examination centres worldwide, making it highly likely that there is an exam centre near you. If there is not a suitable exam centre nearby then you can nominate a new exam centre.

Please note, if you do not sit the exam at the School of Management or RDI Coventry you will have to pay an extra fee to your chosen examination centre.

Career prospects

An MBA is an opportunity to either change career direction or consolidate experience then return and progress in a previous industry or job. The Financial Times Global MBA rankings show that, on average, 20% of alumni achieve board-level positions within three years of graduation.

On completion of the programme participants go into a wide variety of functions and sectors, including IT/Telecoms, Finance & Banking and Industry being amongst the most popular.

Research

The material is research-led, embedding contemporary theory on managerial and business issues (for example Business Ethics and Sustainability and Circular Economy).

Our refreshed MBA has been designed with your future employability in mind and we continue to work with major employers on our MBA Advisory Board and International Advisory Board to ensure our syllabus deals with contemporary issues.

Our Executive MBA is also offered through the Degree Apprenticeship scheme, if you are an organisation looking to enrol your employees on our Executive MBA, find out more about degree apprenticeships at the University of Bradford.

Professional accreditation

We are proud to be in an elite group of business schools to hold the triple accreditations of Equis, AMBA and AACSB, often referred to as the "Triple Crown".

Our School of Management MBA courses have been endorsed by the NHS Leadership Academy to deliver the NHS Master's in Business Administration (MBA) programme, as announced in a speech by the Secretary of State in 2016.

The academics and support staff at Bradford were all brilliant. I could see the value of the MBA in the workplace from day one – and so could the Chief Executive!

Emma Stapleton, Chief Growth Officer at Elmwood.

What you will study

The programme provides you with the skills of responsible value generation.

The aim, therefore, is to develop strategic leaders capable of sustainable and transformative change in a global business environment.

Core Modules

Option Modules

Learning and assessment

Teaching for the core is available as block teaching over a weekend. Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 9am – 6pm. The weekends are spaced a minimum of five weeks apart, going up to 9 weeks in some instances. This is to accommodate Easter, Christmas and Bank Holidays.

The majority of modules are available online. This means that if you are unable to make a weekend you can study the module online instead, thus providing you with greater flexibility.

Assessment is mainly by a 4,000 word assignment for the core, and a 2,000 word assignment for the electives. The Management Project is 15,000 words. Additionally there are formative assignments and multiple-choice questionnaires that help develop your confidence and familiarity with the subject matter, without contributing a mark towards your final mark.

Study support

All the material is available online. This includes a study book, lecture slides, audio and video.

In addition to the face-to-face teaching, four online tutorials are available after the weekend module. These will normally be led by the lecturer who conducted the module.

Additionally we have an Effective Learning Service that will assist you in areas such as critical thinking and referencing.

Research

The material is research-led with contemporary material for current managerial and business issues. The redesigned MBA maps to the four research centres of the School of Management, ensuring the programme benefits from the latest insight and evidence base.

We offer the world’s first and only MBA focused on the Circular Economy.

This new economic model aims to:

  • use resources and energy more effectively
  • reuse products and materials
  • deliver increased profit for organisations

As a student you’ll have a unique degree and first-mover advantage, opening up a range of new career opportunities. You’ll learn the core aspects of a traditional MBA programme, augmented by in-depth study of this contemporary economic model – equipping you with the skills you need to tackle the business, social and environmental challenges of the twenty-first century.

The curriculum has been developed in partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. You’ll study topics including:

  • regenerative product design
  • new business models
  • reverse logistics
  • materials, resources, energy and competitiveness
  • operations, marketing and strategic management

The programme is studied part time through distance learning, using a combination of self-study, online teaching and group discussions. This flexibility means you can fit your learning around your work and home commitments, and complete the MBA at a pace to suit you in anything from two to six years.

Professional accreditation

We are proud to be in an elite group of business schools to hold the triple accreditations of Equis, AMBA and AACSB, often referred to as the "Triple Crown".

Rankings

Our Distance Learning MBA ranked in the top 15 in the world, and 3rd in the UK in the Financial Time Online MBA Ranking 2018.

The programme is also ranked 1st in the world for value for money, and 1st in the UK for salary increase.

What you will study

The MBA programme has been developed to support our academic programme with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF). This MBA will combine the specialist management knowledge and tools from our traditional MBA programme to assess critical global and national trends and drivers, looking at what they mean for your business, region, supply chains, customers and operations, while developing potential strategic and operational responses to global business transitions.

Core Modules

Option Modules

Learning and assessment

All our MBA programmes are made up of three stages

  • Core modules – designed to help you get back in to learning and provide fundamental knowledge of management principles and theory
  • Elective modules – provide an in-depth understanding of specialist topics that are essential and relevant to the contemporary commercial world. Students choose those that are of most interest or greatest career benefit
  • Management project – enables you to put the knowledge and skills gained throughout the programme to practical use on a relevant management issue

Circular Economy students are not required to attend any sessions at University of Bradford School of Management. However students can chose to study up to three modules (each running over 3-5 days) at the School of Management or at one of our partner institutions in Singapore or Dubai for no extra cost (other than travel and subsistence costs).

Your knowledge and understanding of each subject area studied will be assessed by the most appropriate means. This will typically involve the completion of a written assignment, an exam or in some cases an assignment and an exam. If you need to sit an exam we have approved examination centres worldwide, making it highly likely that there is an exam centre near you. Please note, if you do not sit the exam at University of Bradford School of Management or RDI (Coventry) you have to pay an extra fee to your chosen examination centre.

How you study

All students start their studies by taking the ‘Circular Economy – Core Principles and Concepts’ module. This module provides a firm grounding on the key issues associated with the Circular Economy. Following on from this students are expected to take two subjects (modules) every three months.

Each module contains nine study units. Students typically progress by studying one unit from each module per week. This equates to approximately 14-16 hours of study per week. Once you have studied the ‘Circular Economy – Core Principles and Concepts’ module it may be the case that you don't think that you have enough time to study two modules over the three month period, if so you can always chose to study just one module, lightening your workload considerably.

If work or family life is particularly busy then you can even suspend your studies and restart at a later date. This flexibility means that students can complete the Circular Economy MBA in two to six years. We do however strongly advise that students study two modules every three months.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in clinical psychology is a 45-credit-hour degree program that allows students to develop basic intervention, evaluation, and consultation skills. Read more

The Master of Arts (M.A.) program in clinical psychology is a 45-credit-hour degree program that allows students to develop basic intervention, evaluation, and consultation skills. Graduates of the program are prepared to assume entry-level clinical positions in agency, health-care, and organizational settings. Licensing laws of states vary widely, and students should consult the licensing body in the state in which they intend to practice to determine opportunities and requirements for licensure at the master’s level.

Mission

The mission of graduate training in clinical psychology is to provide quality doctoral training in the scientist-practitioner model within a small private university setting. Science and practice are regarded as inseparable elements. Practice itself is regarded as the application of the theories, methods, and results of scientific psychology to clinical problems. The science of psychology is construed broadly, and students are expected to develop familiarity with a wide range of psychological theories, methods, and results. We encourage students to understand the limits of human perception, reason, and intuition, and to appreciate scientific methods as correctives to the flaws and biases of natural human judgment.

Learning Objectives

Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. The master’s program shares four training objectives of the doctoral program: (1) provide a generalist model of training in the discipline of psychology; (2) develop fundamental clinical skills based on scientific research; (3) promote high academic, ethical, and professional standards in all aspects of professional development and practice; and (4) prepare students to adapt their methods and practice to meet the needs of diverse populations. Master’s level psychologists who graduate from our program are not prepared for independent practice or licensure. As such, the program’s fifth objective is to (5) prepare students for doctoral study in clinical psychology or further training in related fields (e.g., counseling, social work).

Curriculum Requirements

The program includes formal course work in the core areas of psychology, research methods, personality and psychopathology, principles of psychological assessment and intervention, and professional issues in clinical psychology. Students are also required to complete six hours of practicum training. There is no thesis requirement. Although much of the program is prescribed, students are allowed some flexibility in choice of electives and practicum placements. In addition to providing a solid foundation for a career in clinical psychology, the program requirements satisfy prerequisites for many doctoral programs in clinical psychology.

Clinical Psychology Core (18 Hours)

Methods (3 Hours Minimum)

Practicum (6 Hours Minimum/9 Hours Maximum)

General Psychology Core (12 Hours Minimum)

Complete a minimum of 12 credit hours from courses listed below:

Electives (9 Hours Maximum)

Remaining elective coursework must include one PSY 7973 course not included elsewhere. Electives may include approved transfer courses, or other general psychology courses.
