  • It is delivered through blended learning which is a mix of access to online core materials and tools and face to face tutorials. Tutorials enable you to get together with your fellow students to exchange ideas and experience and this module interaction encourages discussion, debate and application of real work based issues. 
  • Tutorials are held at the start of each module and help you to settle in to the course material. They commence on Friday mornings and finish on Saturday afternoon.

  • Entry requirements
  • You should hold either:
  • the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or the CIPP Diploma in Local Government Pensions Management
  • the CIPP Foundation Degree in Payroll Management or the CIPP Foundation Degree in Pensions Administration and Management, or
  • an equivalent qualification attained at level six, for example a BA in another subject
  • If you do not hold any of the above qualifications, but have knowledge and experience in a strategic role you may be awarded direct access onto the course if you can demonstrate experience via Accredited Prior Learning (APL). APL can be:
  • Certified (APCL) – to give recognition of learning which has been formally assessed and for which a certificate has been awarded
  • Experiential (APEL) – to recognise that knowledge and skills can be developed through many types of experience, such as work and voluntary activities
  • You must hold at least three years’ experience within a business, payroll or pensions environment. In addition your experience should include strategic aspects such as project management, managing change and team leadership. This is subject to final assessment by the University of Derby. Our four week exam preparation programme

We deliver a four week Exam Preparation Programme as standard. This is designed to highlight your weaker areas and give you plenty of time to address them before the exam. It includes: a mock exam a mock exam feedback week two revision weeks in the run up to the exam, with tutor support throughout. Being properly prepared allows you to approach your exam in a calm and focused way; using time effectively and maximising marks.

Employability

The ACCA Qualification will provide you with skills and knowledge relevant to any business, which means you are free to choose which type of accountancy role and organisation you want to work for. It is expected that these papers will be taken to either establish or enhance a career in accounting in public practice, industry or commerce.

Career in accounting

One of the most popular jobs on graduating is to go on to train as a chartered accountant. There are many different directions to pursue, specialising in financial reporting, taxation, auditing or forensic accounting. They provide professional advice, aiming to maximise profitability on behalf of their client or employer. Strong analytical skills, a developed understanding of business and good mathematical instincts are all necessary key skills.

Although accountancy has four large firms: Deloitte LLP, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PwC, there are many small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which provide plenty of opportunities on graduation, such as professional training and development.

Recent graduates from this course have gone onto jobs such as: Accountant Assistant, Personal Banker, Financial Analyst, Payroll Assistant and Graduate/Trainee Accountant.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The National Film and Television School Production Accounting Diploma is ideally suited for those already working in a finance / accountancy role and who are keen to move into the film and television sector.

This course begins in January each year.

Production Accountants calculate finances, work out the cost of a production, communicate with financiers (companies or individuals who provide the funding) and control the cash flow, or spending. This is a demanding role that requires a level head, self-confidence and strong communication skills.

In pre-production, Production Accountants help the Producers and Production Managers to prepare budgets and Estimated Final Cost Reports.

During production, they oversee all payments, manage payroll, petty cash and foreign currency and keep accurate financial records. They help monitor budgets, analyse spending and provide daily or weekly cost reports. They also produce cost forecasts to evaluate the impact of any production changes.

The diploma course is 12 months part-time and is delivered in London.
